Hello all,

Today I have two user Spyderco Stretch variations for sale. I am the original owner of these knives.

Price includes postage paid via USPS Ground Advantage. First to comment "I'll take (knife)", along with a PM expressing interest will get a reserve on said knife. Payment must be made via Paypal G&S. All payment details will be expressed via PM. Buyer must be willing to commit to making a payment within 24 hours, or the knife will pass on to any additional persons of interest. Knives will be shipped typically the same day, or within 24 hours after payment has been received. Shipping to residents of the USA only at this time. No interest in trades.

Up first is an original LW Stretch "1" with a Black FRN handle and VG-10 steel:

$75

-Action is solid and deliberate, with a bit of pivot/ricasso friction, though otherwise smooth. There is a hint of blade-play if looking for it, and also a touch of 'Seki lock-rock'.

-Centering favors the show side scale by quite a large margin.

-Has been sharpened approx twice and is currently sharp.

-The knife has been carried a handful of times and has seen extremely sparse usage. Most of the wear is concentrated on the pocket clip, which is minor overall. The ricasso shows some circular wear marks due to the rubbing described above. I've done my best to illustrate that within the photos.

-No box or paperwork with this one.

Up next is a Stretch 2 XL LW with a Black FRN handle and VG-10 steel:

SOLD!

-Action is smooth and solid. You may find lock-rock or blade-play, though you'd really have to be searching for it to be noticeable at any rate.

-Centering favors the clip side scale.

-Has been sharpened approximately 5 times and is currently sharp. The factory edge bevels were quite askew, and whilst not anywhere near as 'off' as when received from the factory, they are not perfectly symmetrical. This has not affected cutting performance.

-The knife has been carried and used quite a bit and shows wear indicating such. The pocket clip retention has been loosened a bit for improved ease of in/out pocket retrieval. Overall, still in great shape.

-Includes original box and paperwork.

Thanks for looking!

I realize this is an older thread, but did you ever find a new home for the Stretch 1...?
-I was curious about the off center blade, etc
Thanks,
B.T.B.
Hello Billy,

Thank you for reaching out, and for your interest!

The Stretch 1 is indeed still available.

The blade is just shy of touching the "show side" (opposite the clip) scale. Close to 1/32" gap betwixt blade and scale; it's tight!

What else would you like to know?

Good evening,
Thank you for your reply.

So, the centering issue (w/ the circular wear)
along with possible rock/play came from the factory as such?

Thanks again,
B.T.B.

The centering has been off since I received the knife. Some of this may be able to be slightly adjusted, but IME, if the centering is quite far off from the gate, and especially so if the pivot screws are nearly as tight as can be whilst still being smoothly operable, it can be a moot point to go through the trouble of "fixing", and end up not getting much of anywhere "fixed", outside of the short term.

The circular wear (I believe) is from the liners rubbing the ricasso as the blade pivots opened-and-closed. Sometimes loosening the pivot screws can mitigate this, but the action will be affected, and any perceptible blade wiggle will increase.

I've never experienced a Spyderco lock-back out of Seki that didn't either have (right out of the box), or eventually develop, "lock rock" (up-and-down bladeplay). The side-to-side play is observable at the pivot if you deliberately pinch the tip of the knife and wiggle the blade side-to-side. Again, IME, this is found in nearly all folding knives to some degree, at some point (no matter the lock type), but is specifically deliberate when prying to coax that out. This is just the crux of folding knives.

I go above and beyond to do my absolute best in detailing any potential "flaws" that most folks look for, and sometimes I will list information that is extremely minute, or otherwise unnecessary to some. I do realize that for some folks, it's not "worth it" once reading my descriptions, but I'd rather be 100% up front, than to have a buyer be blindsided by something that they weren't necessarily told to be aware of, though at the same time probably didn't feel like they should need to be worried about their preferences being askew immediately upon arrival. This hopefully mitigates a potential unhappy buyer otherwise.

I hope this has helped.

Cheers,

Sean

Hello,
My apologies for my delayed reply and Thank you for the added detailed explanation,
although I have a fair bit of knife knowledge, if you will...I guess I was more so surprised of the factory flaws from Spyderco.
Also, perhaps I've had better past experience with their pieces lacking the blade centering issue and the existing &/or developing of 'Lock Rock'
At this point, I'm not sure what I would like to do,
or a possible agreeable offer, if that's even a considerable option.
Unfortunately, I just made an unrelated purchase, and 'knife funds' are somewhat lacking at the moment.🤔
Just curious if it's been back in your carry rotation since your original post, or sitting idle?

Thanks again,
B.T.B.

These are not flaws, per Spyderco themselves, and certainly are semi-common from Spyderco, especially within the Seki-City offerings (off-centering, wonky edge bevels, and lock-rock in their backlocks being some of the most common). I've had more than multiple occasions of receiving knives in such conditions, brand new and right out of box. I'm not going to defend anyone's personal preferences, just re-stating the facts that I've heard/read, straight from the horse's mouth, if you will (that horse, of course, being Spyderco).

All knives that I list for sale are deeply considered beforehand, and thusly are not pocketed for future carry.

Cheers,

Sean
