Spyderco Stretch, my favorite Spydie!!

I like all of my spydies, and the Stretch was at the top of my list for a long time, but now the Caly 3.5 takes the top spot.

I have the stretch's little and big bro (delica and endura) and am curious about what sets the stretch apart. The blade length is a good one because it hits right below the max. blade length laws in many areas. But how is it different than an enlarged delica or a shortened endura? I'm asking because it sounds like something I would like own but need more information first.

Most significant difference is the handle. Delica and Endura both have relatively unstructured handles and niether has a forward 50/50 finger choil. Stretch has the 50/50 choil and a more structured handle. Some folks will prefer the Stretch, some will prefer one or both of the other two. Blade shape can also be significant for some users. The Stretch's narrow blade can cut tighter radius curves than the broader blades of the Delica and Endura. The Stretch also makes more efficient use of space. It packs a 3.5" blade into 4 7/16" handle. Delica gives you 5/8" less blade, but is only 3/16" shorter when closed. Endura gives you 1/4" more blade, but is over half an inch longer when closed. Again, important to some folks, unimportant to others.

I love everything about my FRN Stretch except the handle feels too "plasticy" and hollow, if that makes sense... It's the same thing I hate about the full size Griptilian. Its doesnt feel solid like my Delica or even Endura. Maybe I need to try CF?

Been EDCing a Delica for years and it's perfection for me...

Got a partially serrated Stretch from AG Russell a couple weeks ago and it's been in my pocket ever since (my 20th Spydie). Best ergonomics of any yet. Of course I keep eyeing that G-10 Police that'll will probably find it's way into my collection/pocket soon...

After carrying an old factory second Kraton Stretch for months before the new gen Stretches came out, I thought the CF Stretch would be my perfect EDC. However, after getting both the FRN/ZDP Stretch and the CF Stretch, I quickly sold the CF. The full steel liners in the CF make a big difference. My CF definitely felt much more "solid" than my FRN Stretch.

IMHO, the Stretch handle and blade are both very awkward and ungainly looking. Again IMHO, it is among the least attractive Spydercos. Despite this, it's nudged even my Caly 3 CF and lefty Millie out as the go-to EDC. When/if I start working again, I'll probably go back to the CF Caly 3.

The choil, blade length, ergo handle design, flat grind, 14mm SpyderHole, moderate size, and almost-Endura blade length make the Stretch a winner for me. It's gradually on its way to convex and is a personal favorite.

Here's mine that's the slicer part of my carry combo.

I picked mine from the Cutlery Shop today, together with a brown ffg Delica. Delica bit me while I was playing with it so we connected. I have the old Stretch with metal handle and the kraton insirts which I like a lot but I wanted the frn handled one as well, not to fond of the pinned construction wich has had a small but annoying blade play side to side.

I find that the Stretch has a very usefull blade design especially for food prep etc so it is a great friend to bring to bbqs, camp outs, etc. A bit to large for my office environment cutting boxes, opening letters and such.
