Spyderco Stretch or Paramilitary 2?

I would say the stretch too as the ergos are better and a little longer blade. The PM2 has too big of handles for the blade size but i like the lock type bettet. I have had both and they both are good in their own right.

I don't care about the handle to blade ratio and all of that. The PM2 fits my hand like a glove.

I agree with sunandsteel... The size of my hand hasn't changed much recently.

Both are Sal Glesser designs. Sal made the Stretch for himself and his preferences for an "EDC".

I own multiples of both, if I really had to pick one it will be the Stretch because of the thinner grind. Reground PM2 then I dont know... Tough for me.

I would have to pick the PM2 hands down. I've had both, and couldn't adjust to the ergos of the Stretch, myself having larger hands. There just wasn't enough to hold onto, so it constantly felt like the back of my hand was slipping off of the handle. Undoubtedly, it is a great knife, just not nearly as ergonomic as the PM2 for varied use, in my experience. The PM2 can be a hair small in the handle, too, but the handle and the choil overall give a great variety of grips.

Plus, the compression lock is so much more fun to flip while watching TV :D

You really cannot go wrong either way, though.

I like to open and close the blade by just compressing the lock and flicking the blade.

+1

With mine it isn't even a flick, just a slight movement so the blade swings open freely and same thing again to close. Pretty elegant once the timing is down.

Have both. So far the Stretch doesn't get carried much as I carry my Para most of the time outside work, but I still like it a lot. The shape and size of the scales behind the choil on the Stretch are actually more comfortable to me than the Para, but other factors keep it ahead for now.

Pm2 no question, it's also terrible to group all of Asia as a bad place to buy products from, there is a very big difference from most things made in China to most things made in Japan, I can understand saying " I want to buy U.S. Made products over foreign made products" but all Asian made stuff isn't garbage.

I've owned both, stretch was the ZDP CF and IMO the stretch had better ergonomics and is a beautiful knife...
I could flick the knife open, no problem.
I would go with the stretch.
Also less "tactical" looking.

Clearly a case of "get both!"

I have both and they are great knives. I waited a long time for trying the Stretch and should have got one sooner. Mine is super blue and the handle and blade design are stellar. The para is just a classic edc.

I much prefer the blade and handle shape of the Stretch, though I do like the fine point of the PM2. The Stretch also carries easier, having a thinner handle and less aggressive handle material.

The PM2 wins in lock type and unquantifiable beefiness. The ergos are really nice, but I gotta say I prefer the feel of the Stretch in my hand for most uses. The PM2 also wins in variety, with so many sprints and exclusives out there.

This is a classic case of "get both". I'd start with a Stretch cuz it's less expensive and easier to find. I myself have a green ZDP version, and it's such a cool steel, though you can't go wrong with any of them. Then while you're enjoying and getting acquainted with your Stretch, track down the PM2 you want and try to buy that for a reasonable price. Then you'll have both and you'll be twice as cool!

And yes, we're eagerly awaiting a G10 Stretch. I'm pretty excited about this one, though it won't be available for a few months at least.

I would love a Stretch in G10. Where did you hear this?

If I remember correctly (and that's being optimistic), this was brought up by Sal himself on the Spyderco website forum. There was a picture posted of a Stretch with brown G10 panels.

...like the handle to blade ratio better on the Stretch. I also prefer FRN to G10 -- I find it more "grippy" and I like the texturing.(I know I am probably in the minority here) I felt like the PM2 wasn't really doing anything that my Stretch wasn't already doing, so I stuck with the Stretch.

What he said. :)

Yes, if you go to the OEM site's forum, you wil find that active in about the past week.
