Overall i gotta say its a sweet knife from Spyderco. Im not in love with it yet but we shall see. A bit on the plain side for a spyderco. the price is reasonable and quality is there. Ergos are amazing.

Idea of thickness ZT 303 vs Superleaf

The shape is not my cup... Caly is so much better. Stretch is better. Paramilitary is also better... The choil... I probably miss something here.

I guess the obvious question is, how does this compare to the very, very similar Paramilitary 2?

id say the thickness gives it a leg up. I like thick blade it adds some a bit more confidence to utility uses. I dont know how it performs yet but i will update

What I can tell immediately is that it has a superior wire clip. I honestly don't know why Spyderco doesn't use it for every folding knife. And I hate the Tenacious-esque chromed out ones they're using on everything now.

The Para2 and SUperleaf are very different knives. They look completely different, not sure what you mean by very, very similar.

Yes, agree. The handle section of the SuperLeaf makes it, at least to me, a totally different knife. The Para is compact and easy to sneak away for EDC. The SuperLeaf has wonderful ergos and would probably be what I would want if I were cutting all day long, but it's a big big for a pocket or similar.

Para2 and Superleaf

Similarities:
Compression lock,
G-10 handle materials,
Large lanyard hole,
Sharp edge.

Differences:
Handle shape,
Liners (nested vs full),
Blade shape,
Blade steel,
Clip type,
Number of clip positions,
Country or origin,
weight (~3.7 vs ~4.7 ounces)

The Para 2 is a top notch EDC but all the differences aside, I much prefer the SuperLeaf as knives go.

If I could "make my own" Spyderco it would be a SuperLeaf with S90V and CF scales. I'd pay whatever Sal deemed sufficient for that configuration

the only thing that makes me not like this knife is that the cut out for the compression tab is so small compared to the para/para 2. what do you think about it?

Actually I like the SuperLeaf cut out and lock action more. It's easier to reach, smoother and my index finger reaches the tab without adjusting the rest of my grip.

i cant even imagine that, my finger feels too crowded trying to close the knife

I'm with Reeek (both posts above). I find the SL and SH easier to access than either P1 or P2. It's good to have choices. :)

the only reason I won't buy a superleaf (probably) is because I'll buy the para 2....there are a number of differences, but in my opinion, they're similar enough to not require me to own both.

tuffthumbz,

Thanks for the photos and an informative review.

Please elaborate on your comment about the SL being Striderlike.

You referring only to the blade shape? Or do you see this as something of a "poor man's" Strider (although the SL could hardly be called inexpensive)?

Awesome knife! But, I HATE that finger choil!!! I would own two of these but the finger choil completely kills it for me. If there were no finger choil I would absolutely adore this knife. Give me a full length edge, I say!
