Spyderco support issues

Hi,

I just communicated with Spyderco about a stainless steel ATR. It turns out that they don't have parts for at least this older knife.

Does anyone know if Spyderco offers support for any superseded knives at all?

Does any company out there keep parts for older knives?

Cheers,

Harley.

Thanks David.

It's good to know there are manufacturer sub-forums. I'll put the same question in that forum.

I'd still like to know if anyone knows of any manufacturer offering long support periods for older/superseded knives. My knife purchases tend to be long term - and I hate the thought of a knife being a throw away item.

Cheers,

Harley.

Well in summary from the Spyderco sub-forum:

Spyderco offers no parts for older models that anyone can yet tell me of.

yeah, someone mentioned that spyderco sorta hangs you out to dry when they cancle a series. sorta sucks and why I dont endorse them to others very much anymore. too bad. I'm amazed they dont any any extras so you cant even buy replacement parts anymore.

From what I've gathered it's across the industry. For folders that I want to keep long term I'm going to consider buying an extra knife for parts..
