Spyderco Techno Love??

I just ordered one. It's in route so since I don't have it yet, I'll say why I bought it.

Size.
Steel. Don't know anything about it, but want to try it.
I'm actually planning on removing the blue spacer and building a cocobolo spacer. Assuming I love it and want to keep it.

Dislikes
Framelock. Totally overrated and trendy. At least it's not a back lock.
Blade Shape. I'm more of a wharnie guy for EDC. This might work though so I'll report back when it's be used.
Price. I got mine for $170. Not bad, but still bad. I hope the fell and steel are worth it.

I have one and really like it. I really like the blue spacer as well. It really is a little tank. I have had it for a week or so and it's getting a little easier to open. I am a leftie and have had to modify how I open as you can't get your thumb in the spydie hole with left hand carry as the frame cutout is asymmetric. I pinch with thumb and finger, works well.

This is gonna get a lot of pocket carry from me.

Checked it out at GP Knives. I did not like it, not even for ~$100 let alone $190. It is just too small, too thick, and I thought the blue spacer looked funny. I could not find a grip I liked. I also could not middle finger flick it because the lock bar is in the way. Not a big deal, but was a little bummed. A guy bought one when I was at the store, he along with many others are liking, guess I am in the minority. Want a Ti frame lock, get a Sage 2, that is my favorite Spyderco so far. The steel is good but not way up there in terms of edge retention like M390, S90V, CTS-204P. Not bashing the steel by any means, just do not see this knife being worth the price.

On a side note, I bought a Spyderco Stretch from GP, very nice knife.

I generally dont like small knives, but i cant put this thing down. I love it.it is one of my favorite spydies to date.

Love the knife, but don't care for the wire clip at all. The gap on mine is getting larger and looser on my pants/shorts in just a few carries. I love the blue spacer, look and robust feel of the little tank though. Far too many +'s to outweigh the -'s so shes a keeper. It is very pricey though considering it is not produced in Golden. I will readjust the clip with pliers, but I really shouldn't have to after 3-4 carries. Anyway, I am still high on the little tank as a knife itself. Sharp enough out of the box and always wanted a little beast of a folder which this is.

I agree it's a great knife. I've put it into my edc and it's seen a lot of use. The steel is great and it slices surprising well given its thickness.

I do think the price is a little high. It should be more in the $125-150 range. Maybe the price will drop a little.

I'd like to like it, but the blade shape turns me off. Looks to be a good choice if you want a small, stout EDC.

It is stout -- the handle is as wide as the one on my Les George VECP with 3.5 inch blade.

It is small -- about the size of a Cat. If you have XL hands, I'd try before I buy.

And it is expensive -- more $$ than the wonderful Sage 2.

If that appeals to you, you won't be disappointed. The f&f is nearly as good as that of the $400 to $550 Les George, making it something of a bargain. And its size makes it more practical for pocket EDCing.

It's a beautiful little jewel.

I pulled the trigger! Excited. Little brother to the VECP. Good show.

Mine just turned up in the mail.

I love it.
Nicer in the flesh than I expected from the photos.

Not super keen on the colour of the backspacer.
Would have preferred something that matches the rest of the knife better.

The blade is very thick, but cuts well regardless.

Very solid.
Fit and finish is as good as a Sebenza.

This is going to be my work knife for sure.

If you are on the fence, buy it.

Not a lefty knife. You can't deploy with the left thumb since the lock blocks it. I knew that going in. I was expecting to finger flick. This is uncomfortable since the cut out on the scale is so deep, you hit the upper scale each time with your finger. Size is good, but another bad design for lefties.

I can't wait. It shipped last night. I just sold my Insingo! Couldn't get myself to use it. Bought new tires last month for vacation. Just not sure of the lock-bar slide I'm hearing about causing slight lock-rock. *It seems it is only in a couple models though. How are yours guys?

My Techno is rock solid. As a few have said already, to me, it's the most impressive Sypderco I've handled to date. Feels like some of my customs that cost 3-4 times as much. My only slight issue with it is what willydigger mentioned above. I'm left-handed as well, so I can't really use the Spyder-hole as a deployment method. Instead, I have to use a "pinch" technique (have to use this a lot as a left-hander) where I grip the knife with my lower 3 fingers and "pinch" the blade between my thumb and index finger to move the blade off the detent, then continue to open the blade with my thumb. Only takes a few attempts to get the hang of it, then it becomes second nature. So overall, no biggie. I still love the little sucker!
