Spyderco Techno Love??

It's a great knife. I've been carrying this instead of my small Insingo since I got it, and I'm really enjoying it. The knife feels great in-hand, and being a right-handed means I can use the hole to open.

Not a lefty knife. You can't deploy with the left thumb since the lock blocks it. I knew that going in. I was expecting to finger flick. This is uncomfortable since the cut out on the scale is so deep, you hit the upper scale each time with your finger. Size is good, but another bad design for lefties.

Watch this brother a minute or two into the review. It's easy to learn with practice. Let me know if it works for you.

That video is perfect. It explains the lock block issue. The finger flick at 2:18 is how us lefties are forced to open the blade. Normally it is no issue since the opening hole access at the scale is wide. With the Techno is is very small so there is a lot of scale material. When you finger flick, you flick in an upward motion that is partially blocked by the scale which causes your finger to hit the scale every time. Not worth it. You can adjust a little to keep your finger off the lock (video 3:27), but it is awkward and certainly not worth the compromise considering the cost. For a righty, I think it would be a great knife.

I sold mine today.

It should be more in the $125-150 range. Maybe the price will drop a little.

I don't see the price coming down unless Spyderco are left with a large volume of unwanted stock and there is a closeout deal - which I can't see happening. The Junior had a street price of around $140, and that had much inferior materials to the Techno. These are just the prices that the spyderco collaboration models are pegged at these days. I have to say, though, that fit and finish is very good and there are other knives out there that make the Techno look like a positive bargain. I have no regrets about buying one - loved it as soon as I saw the first pictures.

My Techno is rock solid. As a few have said already, to me, it's the most impressive Sypderco I've handled to date. Feels like some of my customs that cost 3-4 times as much.

I am amazed at this thing. Just opened it. Mail came early! I agree with Chris 100% Trust me, he know what he is talking about. Owns Hinderer's, Strider, Laconico, Alan Davis, CRK and others.....or did own some of those. It is solid. Amazing F&F. WIll be a great user/EDC that sharpens well and holds an edge. If you are on the fence....one of the best SPyderco's to date. Feels like a much more expensive knife. I loved the Sage 2....still EDC the Sage 1. For about the same price, in some areas $10-$20 more, this IMHO is a better deal. Worth it!

Just ordered one. I couldn't take it anymore!:D
I've been looking for a slightly more rugged knife than my Small Regular Seb for EDC, but I assumed it would be something larger. I'm hoping the Techno will be a great alternative to my lone CRK.

A nice knife that is very well built. A bit too heavy and too thick for a knife that size, but it is not difficult to carry. Wish it had a pointier tip and thinner blade. I like the finish and the low riding clip. Actually, I've removed the clip and now carry it dangling at the bottom of the pocket, and it carries reasonably well in slacks. From the pics I thought the knife was smaller than it actually is. Perhaps because of its thickness, it feels like a larger knife. It's the Danny DeVitto of Spiderco's line-up.

It's the perfect companion or stand alone. Honets...I've had two small Sebs...

Got mine this morning and I think it's friggin' awesome! Yes, I would prefer it to be larger, but it's simply amazing just the same. Within minutes of handling it, my thought was to raise some cash for another one, as it might be the perfect compact EDC, in my opinion.
Thanks Spyderco!
