What's wrong with 8cr13MoV? Doesn't hold a good edge?
Lots of folks think it's alright, but I find it does not hold a good edge at all. When I was using my Tenacious as my work knife (cutting cardboard, tape, the occasional light prying, all day long), I found the edge would tend to chip really easily and would have to be sharpened after every single day of work. It's not some god-awful pot metal that won't take an edge, and there are definitely worse steels out there, but I was pretty disappointed with it. I'm not even a big steel snob - most of my user knives have been made with simple steels like 13c26, 440C, 440A, AUS-8, and whatever that stuff Victorinox uses.
Anywho, it really didn't keep its edge long enough for my standards, which aren't high in the first place...
