Spyderco Tenacious or Kershaw Skyline??

Looking at the Skyline, with some custom scale work it would make a helluva gentleman's folder. (Wow, images of the Kershaw scales after being polished.....even doing that makes it a very classy looking piece; equally at home in jeans or a suit.)

I guess I'm chiming in a little late. I own both knives and hands down the Skyline is the better of the two.

My choices:
1. Ontario rat 1 folder, Aus8:thumbup:
2. Byrd Cara cara:)
3. Skyline (great design, too small for me):)
4. Tenacious (finger guillotine, handle hot spots galore):thumbdn:

I have a Resilience and it's ok for a low buck knife. I had it slicing paper then peeled about 8-10 pounds of unwashed potatoes in prep for a summer get together. The cutting edge had noticeably dulled from the fine soil dust on the spuds, which were washed later. It still had a good working edge but the slight dulling was surprisingly quick and noticeable.

I find my Salvo to be a bit hard to open with the thumbstud and pretty heavy in the pocket at a full 4.0 oz. But the framelock is extremely solid. Again, for my office EDC, the Skyline would be my choice given the weight and the ease of use of the flipper (I'm a fan of flipper-style knives), plus the feel in the hand (not a huge fan of Trac-Tec insets).

Of the two you listed, I would pick the Tenacious if you have larger hands and intend on using the knife a lot for stuff like food prep (that FFG blade would be great for that task). However, I prefer the Skyline for its aesthetics, pocketability, steel, location of manufacture, and how it fits in my hands, which are smaller. They're both good affordable knives. And yes, I do own them both.

I myself EDC a Buck Vantage...also affordable, and gives me the thumb-hole opening of the Spyderco along with the flipper opening of the Skyline so I can deploy however I feel like. Not to mention the Vantage Pro with S30V steel is a fantastic deal ;)

I have and LOVE both knives. For standard EDC my vote would go to the Skyline. For any kind of heavy duty use whatsoever, I would go with the Tenacious. I have beat the living crap out of mine and it just keeps going. My only complaint about the Tenacious is that it's a bit wide for front pocket carry. That being said, I keep mine in my back right pocket without any issues. One of the added benefits of the Tenacious is that you can "install" a "wave" feature with the use of a simple zip-tie. It's not pretty but it's fun!

With knives like those, try and find a brick&mortar store where you can handle before making a purchase - BiMart, WalMart, Dicks, etc.
I own neither the skyline nor the tenacious because of how they felt in hand - the skyline was too flimsy for the blade length, uncomfortable, and ugly; and the tenacious was both uncomfortable and unsafe and awful fat (wide in both directions) for the length. Both just felt like junk, not worth the $30 tag. The Buck Vantage was (is) better than both in every respect, imho, and worth the price... But this all depends on what you are looking for in a knife, how it feels in your hand in use, and what you are willing to spend. Btw, I didn't buy the Buck because I found a deal on a Benchmade 745 Mini Dejavoo - it was 2x the price and, imho, well worth it.

I also have Salvo. In my opinion as an EDC it is superior to the Skyline and Tenacious: blade metal, fit and finish. The thumbstud and sticky detente/framelock bearing make it difficult to open, even with oil and plenty of brake-in time.
