Just purchased a Tenacious. What can I say, just a very well made knife. I have Striders, and Emersons, Kershaws and Benchmade's. But I tell you what, for the money, it just can not be beat. Thick liner lock, love the design of the blade, hair splitting sharp, G-10, great EDC size. What is not to like?

Some of the smartest money I've ever spent on a knife. Go get one!

I'll have to agree.

I own a ton of knives by all makes and models. I got my Tenacious last week.

Completely stunned by the fit and finish of this knife. The grind is nice, the lockup is super solid, and the price point is very reasonable.

I am afraid that is has caused me to turn my Benchmades, Emersons and others into safe queens.

Great blade.

Now they got me looking at this Fenix line of flashlights that are supposed to be great and made in China. What is the world coming to?

I disagree.

Have you ever seen a Kershaw Storm II for $38 (you can really get it for half the price of Tenacious) that is made in the USA?

The quality is that of a $200 knife.

It's the Kershaw Storm II that just can't be beat!

I disagree with all of you for the bucks spent the Kershaw Lahar, in VG10, superb fit and finish and a big wide blade. Although the Tenacious would run a close second! keepem sharp

PS The Boker M type is excellant also and is a frame lock and superbly made too, point being is that it just blows me away that maybe as short as 4 or 5 yrs ago knives like this would have cost over a hundred bucks easily

sigh... yes for $64, the Lahar is better than the tenacious. But for it's intended market price at $35, the Tenacious is in a class of it's own.

I just got a Tenacious last week and it is a solid user. It now joins my Case Stockman aas an edc. The Tenacious is not to shabby and I got it to my door for 37 smackers from one of the dealers on this forum.

Too bad it has the damn bat man pocket clip .

Problems with storm II:

-Weird Blade design, tenacious has much better design for practicality
-Who needs grip tape on a knife?
-Clip is fine with me, but overall design looks like a knife you'd find for $5 at a gunshow

Don't attack me for this, but just my personal thoughts about it.

Overall I'd prefer the Kershaw leek if I was going to take a kershaw.

To be honest I am with you on this one.

I think the blade shape isn't very good for an EDC. I like the knife, and like it a lot. I just find many knives that have a better hsape for EDC carry.

the Lahar is at least $45 online, ranging up to nearly $60. you can get a Tenacious for under $32 on multiple sites. Tenacious > Lahar.

Yuck. No thanks. Not my cup o' tea.

It's a good thing we're talking about the Tenacious instead of that knife! :D

Yes, the Tenacious is a great knife at any price, let alone it's resale price. Solid lockup, heavy duty built, great, usable blade shape, very good edge holding at that level.

Also pretty darn comfortable to handle!

Tena is a great knife, mine took a lot of abuse and never failed.

(As I'm an Onion-fan, nowadays I carry a Storm 2 as primary EDC. :D It's a great, sturdy and cheap folder too. Get them both, and you'll by happy! :D)

There is NOTHING about the storm 2 of a $200 knife, topspeclt.

SS handle, you can get it in any kershaw model.
Trac-pac grip, again base model material, and who would want that stuff anyway
steel, you can also get that in any model, and this one is running little soft.
lock, you can also get that in any model.
design, not the most efficient blade
So in fact, this IS a base kershaw model, no where near a $200 knife

The Storms are fantastic, and I'd definitely take one of them over a Tenacious. I like the Tenacious, specifically, the grip of the knife is overall better than the Storm.

But the well executed frame lock on the storm is preferable to the liner lock on the tenacious, especially given that the flipper adds extra safety to your finger.

The blade shape on the storm is more practical. I use recurves every day and they make cutting rope etc much more easy. Just lay the rope in the recurve and pull. Does the work for you. Much more versatile. Looks better too.

The action on the storm is a little better. That might be due to the flipper though.

But I definitely prefer G10 to the grip tape in the storm.

They're both great, but the Storm has long been the ruler in this area. It's instantiated proof that you can use good materials, craftsmanship and design, make it in the US and still get a good deal.

It doesn't matter though, since the RAM is superior to all of them, and the new one is supposed to come out at 30 dollars and be better in most ways than the existing 50 dollar RAM. It will probably obsolete all EDC-esque knives at all price ranges.

I hate to bust your rant but by 'quality' I meant "fit and finish".

Of course you can't value it for $200! Only a fool would think that.

the storm 2 really is a superb knife.

i carried one for many months as i worked as a carpenter on a big construction job at Stanford medical center, the knife took everything i threw at it, and even performed tasks it was not really meant to perform like prying and cutting very rough materials. the blade shape is actually very practical. i carried the storm 2 everyday with me to work and used it every single day. its such a tough knife for such a low price. a real worker. it comes with a very small flipper, it worked well when i was wearing thick gloves as well.

Amen! I wish Kershaw wou just get rid of the 'look at me, I'm carrying a big old tactical knife' pocket clips, or at least provide some sort of 'clip conversion kit' for people who don't want to look like they just walked out of a Star Trek convention!

I'm surprised you didn't mention the bead-blast finish on the blade! That's what really gets me, a bead-blast finish applied to 13C26, a steel not known for its exceptional corrosion resistance! I'm just happy they've upgraded to a steel that is supposed to be better in that regard.

I completely agree! The Lahar is an INCREDIBLE value, probably THE best value to come along since the Wally World Native, which was, in my opinion, the best value we'll probably ever see!

The Lahar has a beautiful, satin finished, VG-10 blade, G-10 scales, a very strong lockup, a normal, blackened, non-assuming, pocket clip, and was made in Japan. You definately cannot go wrong there!

Just purchased a Tenacious. What can I say, just a very well made knife. I have Striders, and Emersons, Kershaws and Benchmade's. But I tell you what, for the money, it just can not be beat.

I have to say I completely agree! I had held off on getting a Tenacious for a long time due solely to where it was manufactured, but I finally gave in. In a previous thread, I even suggested that the OP get a Kershaw Skyline over the Tenacious, due to its similar price and where it was manufactured, but after carrying and using both knives, I've turned into a huge fan of the Tenacious!

Unlike the Skyline, I don't have any rust problems with the Tenacious' satin finished blade, and the Tenacious has a design that just 'begs' to be used and used hard! I am in complete agreement that a better folding knife value than the Spyderco Tenacious, for around a street price of $35, cannot be found, though I still maintain that a better folding knife value than the Kershaw Lahar, for a street price of around $65, cannot be found as well!
