Spyderco Tenacious

Am I the only one who thinks that the Tenacious looks better than the Native?

I owned (until recently...see previous post :( ) a Tenacious, and I handled a Native at Wally-world.

I like the Tenacious better: It looks better, the full flat grind is better IMO, and the G-10 is MUCH more substantial than the FRN on a Walmart Native. As far as steel goes, we all know that after a certain point, which steel is "better" is really a matter of opinion... :D

I want to like the Native, but it never feels right in my hand. That point where the middle finger rests always digs into me. If they rounded that off it'd be my EDC.

This is my take on it as well. The textured G-10 on top of steel liners is *very* substantial, whereas the Native doesn't even have liners at all, does it?

The steel is also darn good. Maybe not my first choice amongst the super-steels, but close to ideal for the application (low cost, high quality, very substantial folder).

I could never get into the Native either. Too big, chunky for the blade size. I had one and sold it. I was considering buying the carbon fiber version, but I really want to handle it first.

Even though the Tenacious is a great knife, I try to buy only U.S. made knifes. Its a great deal though.

I had one. First impressions were that it was a bit chunky but a fantastic deal for $32. Solid lock up with a really satisfying sound. Built with great materials too; the G10 feels very good in the hand. But...CHINA...I couldn't get past the big CHINA reminder every time I opened the blade.

I sold it for cost to my friend and he's very happy with it. I get to play with it when I want and then give it back...kind of like grandkids.

I had one as well, until I lost it. I lost it in my truck, I believe, and can't seem to find it.

I have two Tena's. It's a great knife for the money and great for general EDC. That's saying a lot by me as I normally don't favor liner locks.

Do you get the same feeling every time you use your computer?

I (and a number of much smarter people than me) am convinced that the 21st century will be the period that Asia will take over as the major economic force on the planet. Some even suggest that in 300 years periods like the cold war and the uproar of radical islamism will be a much smaller footnote in history than the coming of Asia.

The question is, how will the west need to deal with it. I do think that Bush made a huge mistake in focusing so much money on a war while he could have armed the USA better against the coming century by spending a fraction of that money on excellent cheap education for everybody. This is historically proven: an investment in education empowers a country in the long run, and that's exactly where Germany, China and Japan did big efforts.
