Spyderco... There can be only ONE!

So I've come to a point in my life where I'm trying to "Live Simpler" with just less materialistic stuff around me. Those that have taking a serious hit would be my more expensive hobbies (knives and guns) along with other areas.
I've been dialling back my knife purchasing to an almost halt :( and in fact parting with lots of my folders and fixed blades. In fact I sold a nice bundle of essential Spyderco knives which made me sad to see them go but ...
The good news being that on hunt for perhaps my ONLY Spyderco blade now.
PM2 seems to be near the top followed closely by a Gayle Bradley. I'm a knife user not collector so if it's going to be only one spydie for me I don't mind getting a sprint with good user steel. Been going over all my purchasing options but I'm just wondering what other peoples personal thoughts are before I make a decision. There's always a chance I might just say "screw this ! I'm an adult and I can buy what I want and as much as I want" but am trying.... Oh I'm trying :D

I'm just curious if you had to get rid of every Spyderco in your collection and had to keep only ONE and it had to be a user blade what would it be and why ?

Thanks peeps

Lotsa luck.

I've been looking for "the one" for a long time and have found some good candidates but there's always some reason or another why it won't make the cut. ;)
I can work around marginal ergonomics if it's an efficient cutter for my needs but there's always something that gets it shelved and another goes in my pocket.
I know I'm looking for a level of perfection that probably doesn't yet exist, just wish it didn't cost me so much to find out. It was fun though.

And I think you're on the right track with the Bradley. Can't go wrong with that knife at its price point.

If I had to get one and ONLY one - it's either a Delica with ZDP-189 or the Sage 1. Tough call.

I have a pm2 and really enjoy using it, it is s30v satin with black handle, I like the ergos and size as well as the black handle as it doesn't show the dirt. However my favorite knife is the lum Tanto folder, not sure why I like it so much but I do like the strength of the tip, a lot of other spyderco have the blade tip as a weak point. Anyways good luck with your decision hard to keep it to one knife, I have 4 main knives and one collector, in order lum Tanto, techno, southard, pm2. My collector is a titanium lum Tanto folder.

For general purpose EDC the Slysz Bowie is perfect (or a Stretch if you prefer back locks)

If you like comp locks then the PM2 is very sweet as well. If you can go with 4" of blade then the Military is better..

I haven't been through All the Sypderco models but over a dozen different models. My favorite two that I have are the Vallotton and Delica with custom scales. If could just have one would choose the Vallotton.

Simple - The PM2. Best value folder by far. There are lots & lots of really good Spydies, but really when it comes down to it what more can be said.

If I just had to be restricted to just one Spyder to carry every day my selection is an easy one. Now I will list a folder and a fixed blade both because I personally feel that I would NEED both

For a folder that's a real easy one for me because it's my all time #1 favorite out of my JD's Top 10 list I put up every now and then. It is the C-44 Dyad model ( the full sized one). It is a double bladed folder with the best of both Spyder Worlds>> it has one plain edged clip point blade and one sheepsfoot Spyderedged blade ( with a very slight belly to it). Luckily for newcomers There are still a few of the newer Gray G-10 Sprint versions still around to be had. It would really do a person well if they only could have one folder>> because it's basically 2 great Spyder blades in one folder. It's truly a home run and slam dunk both.

Now in the fixed blade category I must put up my favorite fixed blade of all time. It's the FB05 original, first run Spyderco Temperance 1 model. The neat thing about this Spyderco fixed blade is that you can get it in full plain edge and it was also available in Spyderedge which is unique because Spyderco has had very few fixed blades in full Spyderedge. It is still my all time favorite, all purpose fixed blade. And with 2 edge types available it would be my #1 pick for a fixed blade still today.

That's a really, really hard question!

I guess my answer today would be a Manix 2 Lightweight in S110V. I love this knife! The older I get, the more I like lightweight knives. S110V is easy to keep sharp, but I haven't had to reprofile or fix any chips yet either. The day that happens, I might change my answer, ha ha.

If i had to choose one Spydie....Sage 1 or Caly 3 for back lock users. Big enough for getting work done. Small enough to not scare people like the bigger Spydies do.

I just got a Manix 2 in S110V and if you can find one, I don't know that there are many better pure value buys out there. It's a super top level steel in a great package.

Much as I love my PPT, think the versatility of the Military would make it my choice.

I DID get rid of every Spyderco in my collection and the only one I have now is a SE Pacific Salt.

-Light linerless FRN handle makes it strong but featherweight. All-Torx construction means I can tighten and clean as needed.
-SE H1 cuts forever and doesn't rust. Oil in the pivot once or twice a year should suffice for maintenance.
-I can easily sharpen it on Sharpmaker corners or an EZ lap diamond rod that I keep in my bag.
-Big enough for basically any task but not obnoxiously large in the pocket.
-At $80 new I can wail on it and not worry too much about losing or ruining it.

When it comes out, the LW S110V Native will be much choice for a 3" blade.

I enjoy collecting Spyderco sprints and have a few Spyderco users which are different from the collector pieces. Of all the Spydies I own (Titanium Native, CruWear Millie, ZDP189 Endura, SuperBlue sprints, etc) I would have to keep my S110V Manix 2. It doesn't look as pretty as some of the other knives but the blade steel is incredible for my needs and the ergos are great.

Tough question! I'd probably go for a Caly or Dragonfly. Or maybe the Chap? Perhaps the Delica? No, maybe the Native?

Caly or Dragonfly. I think.
