Spyderco Tool?

Your guna get an email soon saying its on backorder and wont be in for a few weeks, i ordered one last night and got the email this morning. I got all excited thinking it was in stock.
Yeah, I got that this morning stating that they are out and on back order. Kristen said it would be two weeks before they got them again. :(
Oh well, I'll wait for it. I don't have a pressing need for it right now anyway.

The tools you need are going to depend on which Spyderco, or Spydercos, you own. T-6, T-8, T-9, and T-10 are the four most common screws on current and recent models, but I have at least one Spyderco with every Torx size from a T-5 (grey G-10 Jseter), to a T-15 (one version of the Military). And, if you want to service models more than 8 - 10 yeas old you'll a couple sizes of small Phillips screwdrivers, and perhaps a couple Allen wrenches as well.

As for Spyderco branded tools. Even ignoring the possible "mixed signals" regarding disassembly that some would claim it was sending, I can't see any huge benefit to them. It's either going to be something they tie up precious Golden resources producing, or have to purchase a large number of sets, with no assurance as to how well it would sell.

I know it isn't near the quality of the Boker tool being talked about, but I use the bit kit that came with my Leatherman Wave to do a lot of things that the OP is talking about. I wouldn't use it to take apart a Buick. But for moving clips (or removing them as I am known to do from time to time) or tightening down screws on scales that are coming loose, it gets the job done.

Every time someone mentions touching a few screws the warranty flag is thrown up. This is not a bad idea because it's sort of true. However, some people give this advice with more attitude than needed. What if the OP just wanted to move the clip for a lefty or adjust the pivot tightness. It is also possible that a scale screw can work lose over time. There is a need for tools to maintain knifes. With your snarky reply, new members might be afraid to tighten a screw falling out of the knife.

"It would be great if Spyderco made a tool for basic adjustment and maintenance for their knives. I would buy one. Anybody know if there is one available? If not, what size Allen Wrenches should I get to adjust the tension of the blade? How about the screws that hold the pocket clip on?"

OP never asked what he needs to totally disassemble the knife. His question was appropriate yet BF met it with sarcasm. The best reply would be something like... Just know that according to the manufacturer disassembley voids the warranty, but you can adjust certain things. There are lots of good torx divers like brand x, y and z. Be careful not to strip the little t6's and happy

I totally agree, sometimes other members are quick to judge and spend too much time with rude and sarcastic comments.
