spyderco tuff... worth the $225 cost to get one?I

I haven't handled a Spyderco Tuff, but it is on my shortlist of knives to get. People used to knock japanese made knives too once upon a time.

I'm saving for the Southard flipper and another blue or green PM2. This one just doesn't excite me very much. I'm sure its a great knife but this one is too out there for me. If I still worked with gloves on I might grab one.

Although Taiwan and China share a linguistic and ethnic background, Taiwan is not China. It is an independent nation with a distinctly capitalist economy.

Let's not making this thread political, we only care about who makes the best quality knives, not political systems. Nobody is perfect, even the US. But your statement is completely false.

Today's Taiwan was established by Nationalist Party who was the legal government of China including Mainland decades ago. They fled to the island after suffering an epic military defeat against the Communist Party. Today, neither government of PRC nor Taiwan consider Taiwan as an independent state but a province of China, both governments consider themselves the legal government of One China. So, please get the fact straight, but don't ask me how do I know that.

I never heard of this knife until I saw this thread. Thanks guys, I am going to have to get one of these for sure. It really does look like and quality tank of a knife.

It shouldn't sell for $225 but since you can, why pass up a genuine bargain? Look at the quality of the materials and workmanship - it'd be a good value at a price a fair bit higher. Whether you want or need a massively built folder with a 3V blade is a different question, but that doesn't reflect on whether it's worth the street price.

Have one in hand and it's well worth the price to put such
a stupid grin on my face whenever I handle it- what a beast.

It's better than some of the fit and finish of sprint runs that
I've seen, domestic or overseas. The edges on this bad boy
are just so crisp. Enjoying breaking it in.

I like the shape but not too sure about the dimples on the handle. The shape reminds me of my Rock Salt.

I thought the dimples would bother me, but not at all. They
are actually quite subtle (especially on the g-10 side) and
since I'm right handed- presentation side up, I don't often
see the deeper dimples on the ti side of the handles. Beside,
they are hardly visible anyways when one uses the knife, but
their design intent can surely be felt and appreciated.

I'll be holding the knife in hand more than I'll be looking at it
while it's on the desk.

Good design is invisible.

As the owner of several Spyderco products I can honestly say the Tuff, Gayle Bradley, Techno and Navaja have some the best F&F of anything is Spyderco's lineup. All made in Taiwan.
