Spyderco ultrafine rods...any help?

Hey there. You've used the uf rods much? Are saying that you find you can get your edges plenty sharp with the fines and don't need the extra bit you could get from the uf

This.

, or do u mean you have used the uf rods and haven't gotten a sharper edge than what u get with the fines? Just curious.

No, you can definitely get a keener edge with the uf rods. Those are 3mu rods.

As I said earlier, I definitely don't "need" the uf but seems like a cheap way to play around trying to get some silly sharp edges.

Thanks,

Lance

Sure, why not? :D. But in terms of usable sharpness, the f rods are more than plenty for most purposes.

Got ya. Thanks for clarifying. I agree whole heartedly with your last sentence. I'm just looking to have some fun and get some oohs and ahs from my buddies. Hehe. :)

Following this thread to see how Surfingringo likes the UF. I want to try them just out of curiosity. My fine triangles already work really well.

I won't have em here until the end of jan, but I promise to give an update after I've given them some use.

I have the UF rods and they are definitely worth it and they do make a difference. Hope you like them too.

I like the UF rods. I have a Wicked Edge that I use to reprofile/set the bevel and thought once I got the WE that my SHarp Maker would be retired. However, I still use the SM for quick touch ups. The SM works great for touch ups because I set/keep my EDC blades at 40 degrees. In fact now I basically only use the UF rods because if a blade is really dull I use the WE. I got out my trusty old SM just yesterday to touch up my Large Insingo. After a few minutes with a Sharpie and the UF rods the blade was once again very sharp.
