Both companies make great knives and stand behind their products.

What Steven Andrews said...really give it a rest already :thumbdn:

Spyderco guy because of Sal and their utility, but I gotta admit, Benchmades do feel nice in the hand, the AXIS lock rocks and man, are they pretty.

one thing I honestly always have to think, if I buy that benchmade I'm either going to not use it at all because it's just too blunt, or reprofiled at to a proper a geometry. Honestly I have one benchmade an old pinnacle but I basically ruined aesthetically trying to get sharp, until my knife knowledge grew enough that I was able to reprofile it and now it works fine the tip is a little messed up but there's nothing I can really do about that because if i Send it into benchmade they would just ruin the edge again. I have other smaller cripes but that's my main one.

Spyderco imho. Benchmade makes good knives but for some reason I personally think Spyderco listens to the user. Benchmade has some good knives but not up to speed with Spyderco.

BM jumped the shark years ago. They will be like Gerber in another 5 to 10.

Shiny footprints?

Again, I'll follow Steven Andrews lead on this one.

If someone likes Spyderco more than any other knife company hey great...me too.

If someone likes Spydercos more than a certain knife company, well sure, most people have a favorite.

If someone wants to compare this knife to that knife...well likely one will be more favorable to one person or other...nothing wrong with that.

But really, follow Sal's lead and Sal's wishes and stop with bashing other companys for bashings sake. If you just can't hold it in and have to bash...go to General Knife discussions or Whine and Cheese. ;)

I think they both make great knives. They both have excellent fit and finish, use good materials, and sell in similar price ranges, though I'd say Spyderco has a better selection of affordable knives.

As others have stated, it seems like Benchmade focuses more on aesthetics than Spyderco, and Spyderco focuses more on functionality.

I have found Spyderco's edges to be sharper out of the box, but my Benchmades are by no means dull. I EDC my Paramilitary more than my Benchmades, but I like looking at my Benchmades more than my Spydercos. Benchmade balisongs are also superb, though I have never handled a Spyderfly.

In my opinion, they are both great companies offering a great selection of knives (perhaps geared for different audiences).

As Sal says: "All good, just different"

Own choice and personal preferences as zenheretic and outhers say

I used to buy a lot of Spyderco and Benchmade knives.

Now I just buy Spyderco.

I won't say any more.

Well said Zen:thumbup:

Own several of both. Great companies. Pioneers of the industry. Been a cop for about ten years, tactical instructor/range master. The two I have had fail on duty were MOD and BM. Both companies honored the warranty. BM actually upgraded the lock on the AFCK from Michael Walker liner lock to the Axis (D2). I have never had a spyderco fail. Maybe it's just luck of the draw.
Stay safe.

It's a video made by our precious banned Vinny, the guy who scammed New Graham Knives.

The Axis lock can fail, but I would take that video as evidence.

Whoa Whoa Whoa, who scammed new graham knives, go ahead and ask Mike Dye if Vinny scammed NGK. Please don't make foolish assumptions. I have apologized for my immature actions, and have reeps all the consequences of them, though the majority of almost everything I sad was a lie from a immature idiot. I was young and spoiled and immature, Ive changed alot. and believe it that the change to alot of self refection and I am disgusted of who I used to be.

Vinney the punk has some more apologies to make, before he will be welcome here.
