Spyderco Volpe

IMHO Volpe is one of the most underappreciated Spydercos.
It has almost everything the good knife should have: full flat grind blade, good steel, excellent size (not too big, not too small) for my taste, great ergos, outstanding workmanship (I can only wish that Fox would make more Spydercos), great look. The only little issue I have: lock is little hard to open, when you close the blade. It doesn't bother me much, and would never prevent me to buy this knife.

I agree:thumbup: It's one of my favorite Spydercos. The framelock is a tad stiff on mine as well, but it's certainly no deal breaker. Overall it's an amazingly sharp, comfortable, capable, attractive knife.

This is not officially a Spyderco, as I understand it, but a Spyderco approved knife.

This is the first time I've heard that the Volpe is not a "real" Spyderco. I'd be curious to hear some confirmation of that. From what I've read and experienced, it's 100% a Spyderco knife. Of course, I could be wrong...

I suspect he's thinking of the Spyfox:
The SpyFox is a collaboration between Fox Cutlery and Spyderco. The collaboration was initiated by Fox Cutlery and they are the manufacturer of the SpyFox. AG Russell has an exclusive with Fox for the two variants shown. Please be aware that any warranty issues will be handled by AG Russell, not Spyderco and as an AG Russell exclusive, they will not be available as part of our Collectors Club.

From this thread.

The Volpe is in the catalog so it is "an official Spyderco knife." The Spyfox is not in the catalog.
