spyderco zip tie

I tried it out on my Manix 2, and once on my Tenacious. It was kind of nifty. Not overly useful, and it became difficult to take the knife out of my pocket without it snapping open (which I guess is the whole point of the mechanism, but still a bit annoying).

I find it ruins the Elegance of my Paramilitary 2 with Black G10 and M390 steel. I use it because I need to have my knife out fast and cut in a hurry if Something goes wrong with the a line. It is hideous but it works. The biggest downside of the zip tie mod is. YOU CANT USE YOUR SPYDERHOLE AS A BOTTLE OPENER!!! The irony!!!! I can either choose to have my knife for work or pleasure...... Disappointing.

What exactly is the A line? Sounds classified.

How do you open a beer with the hole? I would think any part of the spine of the blade would be able to pop beer caps with ease.

I tried it on my Tasman Salt. Worked OK. For about 2 days, then the zip tie broke off. Put another one on, and it broke off. They were pretty thick, heavy-duty ones too. So I gave up on the idea.

Tried it on my Cento4. Worked surprisingly well, but I'm not a big fan of waved opening in the first place. Add to that the cheap look, and I took it off after trying it out at work for a few days.

On a boat lol. Random ropes etc. Some guy doesn't do it right and away goes something thats connected around someone. I use the spyderhole as a churchhill bottle opener. just grip spyderco, (hold to where handle side is towards the sky and the blade side is toward the bottle) place bottle cap in spyderco, RIP! tada!

i can deploy my spyderco fast enough for my purposes. also, it looks stupid with the zip tie.

I noticed when I had it on my Tenacious it made my blade off center and not open as smoothly. Maybe I was pulling it out at an angle or something but I saw no real benefit and did not like what it did to my blade.

Never done the zip-tie thing and have no inclination. Not a huge fan of the wave feature in general. I have considered buying a waved Delica just to grind off the wave bit and have a super-cool lookin' blade profile though...

I'm pretty much in on the general consensus here. It works well, but looks silly. Some of my knives I don't care how they look, some I wouldn't even consider putting it on.

Function > form, love the zip tie mod. At first, it wasn't 100% reliable, after carving a ramp with gimping into it it's well worth the ugliness. While I don't really need the extra speed, it's nice not having to think about opening, or having to feel around for the spider hole.

Looks silly and I agree with those who said they can open it fast enough with the hole or other methods. For me, staying away from stuff that require that much faster opening as much as possible is the solution.

I put it on my Endura and like it there. It's a useful novelty, but I don't think it'll ever make it to my other Spydies.

i think that it is THE most efficient way to deploy a knife and thats why my work knives are a zip tie'd tenacious and a custom waved griptillian

do some work where you NEED your knife and you will appreciate it

try it its super cheap and cut it off if you dont like it

however i wont be putting one on my blue para 2 sprint or my m4 manix because it does ruin the look but on a tenacious its right at home
