Spydercoites or Benchmadians?

I go for Spyderco and Kerhsaw, with a few Benchmades on the side.
It's really hard to say that I like one more than the others, because they all put out good designs...

Nevermind. The Spyderco Military is the best knife ever made, and it comes in S90V. I love Spyderco.

I tend to lean more towards benchmades, but spydies are growing on me. Now as some one else said if spyderco made more knives in the USA it would be a different story, not that there is anything wrong with their foreign line, it's great but buying foreign products doesn't support our economy that much.

But it goes back to the Be all end all Knife thread
Q: Should I get a Benchmade, or should I get a Spyderco?
A: yes

I used to EDC SAK for many years, but three years ago my knife obsession started and I bought Grip 551, very comfortable knife by the way. The next step was Presideo and finally I got lucky with discontinued Ares (bought the last one from NGK), purple & black. About at the same time I bought Native, just to try S30V, $40 at walmart. Ergos are outstanding, a lot of knife for $40. When I needed gents knife, somebody recommended me Kopa Cocobolo, so I bought it and this was the end of BM for me (all of them are sold). Later I tried Kershaws: Nakamura, Mini Cyclon Ti/ZDP, SG2 Blur. No luck with them, but Blur is nice.
Today I am all Spyderco (plus my old SAK). These knives are good, great ergos, excellent steels. And yes, some designs are ugly, but I was able to collect 50 + beautiful Spydercos. I would collect even more gorgeous Spydies, if i had more cash, old and new.
I wish Spyderco would make more in US, but I have no problem to buy knives made in any friendly country.

I have more Spyders than Benches, but it really depends on the model. I feel that the Nitrous Stryker is one of the best designs around. Also, I really don't care for he FRN handles on many Spydercos, but I own a couple Delicas in SS and G10.

I like them both.Spyderco just a teeny bit more though.I don't like the fact that if you take apart a BM knife, you void the warranty.

I like Benchmades for smaller EDC. I like the 940 and all the mini grip models. For something bigger I like the Spyderco stuff like the Military.

I have a fair amount of folder from both Spyderco and Benchmade in the short time I started knife collecting and love 'em both. I love Benchmade's Axis lock, it's lightning fast deployment, and the look of many of their folders like the BM 960; on the other side of the equation I love Spyderco's ergonomics on many of their offerings like the Sage and the Endura.

They're both great companies and the prices on their products are well worth it, IMHO.

I own four Spydercos and one Benchmade. But that one Benchmade (710) has been my only EDC for nearly three years now. Both make good knives, but the 710 is more comfortable to use than any other knife I have.

I like them both, but I have Spyderco's due to the greater variety of available shapes of blades and handles.
I DO like the AXIS lock though.
And, sacrilegious as some may view this, I prefer the BM Gravitator over the Yojimbo, and I feel that BM pulled off the Lum design more nicely.
But I still keep buying more Spyderco's.:)

I started out with Benchmade but I am probably gonna be a Spyderco customer for life. I just love the Spyderhole opener and I like their designs better. Along with the fact that the company president talks to you and listens when you talk.

For me they are tied for favorite modern knife companies; I like them equal:thumbup:. I love the way they feed off each other and we the ELUs are the winners! I've also met Les and Sal and they are really nice fellows!

Only Benchmade I like is the 630BK...and that has an opening hole :D

Amen to that! Agreed on all counts!

im more of a benchmadian than a spydercoite but i do consider myself abit of a KershawKid as well

Right now, I have about thirty knives, including 8 Kershaws, 4 Spydies, and 1 Benchmade. I have owned many other Kershaws and Spydies, but only the one Benchmade. I guess the numbers make me part of the Kershaw Mafia....
