Spyderco's GOLDENSTONE? Any Information Available yet?

The 3 new sharpeners all required Plastic molds. To avoid confusion, we decided to to each one at a time.

The Gauntlet was first. Home use, 40 degrees inclusive, large hand guard. Cat's eye stones at 9".
The Galley "V" was 2nd. Commercial use, 20 degrees inclusive, Cat's eye stones, 12", mounts to table.
The Golden stone stand, sets Golden stone at 30 derees.

The Gauntlet and Galley V are now in house and we're beginning the Golden Stone 30 degree stand.

The galley "V" 20 degrees inclusive? Typo me thinks.

But a golden stone stand will be nice for maintaining my 15dps micro bevel at work. (I trash edges)

Recently bought a Goldenstone on a whim. Wow! Really nice stone, very handy, bigger than I thought. Would love to see if available in medium and ultrafine. Maybe a video on its use? Spyderco should hype this stone more.

Hi Retired,

Probably won't make a medium grit to due to the wear factor on the medium grit and the high cost of mfg. Could possibly make an Ultra fine in the future. Next on the agenda is the stand that permits a 30 degree angle and a video so you can get the most out of the stone. There will also be a CBN version (using the old Duckfoot embryo). Enough time to do all that we want to do makes it difficult. Need more hours in a day, more days in a week.

Thanks for the updates Mr. Glesser. At the risk of being annoying :D I do still have a couple of questions regarding the GAUNTLET and the progress of the GOLDENSTONE? When is an approximate date for the release of the GAUNTLET? Also have you all considered the possibility of making the GOLDENSTONE in medium and Ultra-Fine? I'm very anxious to get my hands on a GAUNTLET unit ASAP. Also I really want to see how the GOLDENSTONE could be the ultimate portable sharpening system if offered in more grit selections?

I've always really liked all of the sharpening tools that Spyderco has brought to market and I am very optimistic about these new upcoming sharpening tools. Also the GOLDENSTONE in CBN would really be cool too.

Hi Blame it on God,

No typo. This sharpener is for commercial application.

Now does that mean that it won't be available to the rest of us? Because I still have my old Galley V from the late 90s and I want one of the new ones for sure. I love those "Cat's Eye" stones that came with the old unit. Those "Cat's Eye" stones are great for weird blades like the Dodo and other Reverse S blades.

I've used my older Galley V unit for really long Chef's knives, Bread Knives ( SE & PE) and some outdoor type fixed blades. I'm saving my nickels as we speak because I want all 3 of these new Sharpening tools you all have coming out.
