Sal,

Just had to extend kudos for the excellent job you guys did on your new "G" clips for the fixed blade sheaths!!! Not as bulky as the mini-TekLoks, still retains all the different carry options, lies closer to the body without digging in, can retrofit to older sheaths, and can be used "beltless" with sweats or running shorts (something you can't do with a TekLok). You even got one of the most overlooked attributes right - rounded edges! The edges on the majority of "G" clips are stark 90 degrees, even on the inside hook that grabs your clothes when going "beltless". This causes abrasion over time and can put a hole in your shorts or sweats - not yours. Spyderco definitely got these right!!

Here's a couple pics. Can be used with or without rubber washers.

I had one of Mikes sheaths for a REKAT Pikuni, It was easily the best kydex sheath I have ever owned and I love the G clip. it makes it very easy for belt less carry. Which models are these being used on?

Thanks, Saku!! The Pikuni is one of my favorites. Anyway, my understanding is that Spyderco is switching over to the "G" clips on all their fixed blades, though there are still plenty in the distribution pipeline with the mini-TekLoks. I'd look to newer models first.

Sal,

Most of the time, between concept and final product, some things get "lost" because of bean counters or mass production methods. I get a "little anal" sometimes on things like smooth rounded edges and others that increase "user-friendliness", so I was very happy and impressed with Spyderco's execution of these. On another note, over in Spyderco's Forum, someone related that he was told by Spyderco that the new "G" clips would not retrofit because of the different hole pattern. WRONG - they DO retrofit, just maybe not in all the different oddball configurations that people might envision, but not really use. Practical set-ups are horizontal, vertical, or canted (approximately 45 degrees). These carries, used by 99% of the people, incorporate the four corner holes, either in line or corner to corner. This translates to a three hole pattern that is used by most sheath makers, custom or factory, to allow for this. The four corner holes for the Spyderco "G" clip and the mini-TekLok are exactly the same. I used four screw posts to mate a mini-TekLok with a Spyderco "G" clip for illustration, along with a factory and custom Street Beat sheath showing the three hole pattern.
See you at Blade!
