Spydercos with great action

I’ve found anything with a compression lock from spyderco has great action. Having a heavier blade just makes it better.
Same here--PM2, Para 3, Canis, Sliverax, Lil Native, Caribbean Salt. But out of the box, my Yojimbo was hard to open even with two hands. Once I broke the thread locker and loosened the pivot screws, it was good though.

Other Spyderco lock types are hit or miss--about 50/50.

I’ve heard that before on this site.
I haven’t had any problems with S30v it has performed better than S45vn ime. I really like s30v personally, surprised to hear that you had a bad experience.

The manix 2 is a lot of fun, I really enjoy it.

Both my PM2 and Yojimbo 2 have issues with chipping in light use. I'm eventually going to have the Yojimbo 2 rebladed in another steel.

I can't really say that I've ever encountered a Spyderco with a truly "bad" action.. even the knives that don't easily flick open and/or drop shut, normally have very smooth, if more deliberate, actions. However.... for purposes of discussion in this thread, it sounds like we're conflating "great action" with "flick/fidget-ability," which can get pretty subjective.. but yeah, I'd agree that some of the compression lock Spydercos are best in this regard, especially those with heavier blades. Yo 2, as mentioned in OP, is excellent. PM2s in general are great, but my Tanto and Waved PM2s are noticeably smoother feeling than standard due to their heavier blades.. both have really great actions. The Kapara and Smock also stand out, off the top of my head.. my Kapara has one of the smoothest free-falling-to-closed blades of any of my knives when the comp lock is depressed and the Smock is just plain fun to use with its button..

I had the same experience with cv20. I’ve avoided that steel ever since. Yet the knife itself I really like so I tolerate it anyhow.
The steel has seemed to improved as I’ve used it.
