So, I was raised a Benchmade fan, that and Kershaw is all my dad ever bought and i love Benchmade. I got a Mini-Grip, loved it for a while, the centering was messed up (which I've heard is a common issue with Benchmades) and it rubs on the scales, no biggy, it will just be a user, still love it, have recommended it to plenty of people, but then it happened
I got a Manix 2 in S110V, now when i pick up my Mini Grip i just don't like it anymore... dunno why, it's just meh, i still like the feel of my Kershaws and my Benchmade automatic, but the Mini-Grip is just pleb, even to the point I'm considering selling it, anyone else feel like this when they get a new knife?

Yes, Jim Allen an Eugene over at Olamic Cutlery made my whole collection feel...meh. I still love my bm barrages and some of my other meaningful folders(gifts). My spydies still see pocket time but it's not the same. I've been selling a lot of my knives to fund me some new friends.

I hear you. Spyderco's can almost ruin perspective for some people. Even some of the nicest Benchmades don't seem as cool to me as a lot of Spyderco knives just because of how unique a lot of them are. I can't say I've ever had a Benchmade with bad centering though. Especially to the point of rubbing the handle.

When I first got into knives, I often saw Spyderco portrayed as a company with a lot of "fanboys" - I never thought much of it. I didn't have any, didn't really know what it was about. I recently bought 2, and while I still like all my other knives, I have to say - I get it

I'm no high-end collector - my priciest knife is my ZT0770CF. That was a big purchase for me, and I consider it really nice - assisted opener/flipper, CF handle, ELMAX blade but still, lately I can't stop playing with and carrying my Delica - with a purple FRN handle and an old fashioned back lock.

Haha, i kinda feel like that Benchmade has also pissed me off a bit with customer service, if i send in a knife for bad centering because it's rubbing.. when i get it back with a replaced blade, i don't want it to still rub. As much as i love my Manix 2, i also can't stop flipping my Kershaw's, it's like Benchmade entirely has lost it's luster for me

I feel you. I just got my first ever "premium" brands and steels yesterday. A $195 BM KW exclusive 810-1401 Contego in M390, I love it, and it's an absolute beast... BUT, the other knife I got with my order was a Delica 4 with Brown FRN in VG-10 and I CANNOT keep it out of my hands! It just feels so...right. That's the only way I can think of to describe it. Both great blades with different purposes but the Spydie just feels like it was tailored for me, like it's an extension of me.

Anyway, I'll be buying more of both brands as I love them both, the AXIS lock is just terrific and the Spyderco just has something I can't quite put my finger on but I want more of it.

A PM2 is down the list of purchases, next will be a Cryo to pimp, then a Kershaw Strobe, then one of those new blue leeks, then a tiger stripe blur (a lot of Kershaws O.o), then a Kershaw/Emerson, and then a PM2 (if i can find one), also want a BM 940, and a Sebenza, and a Busse, and a BergBlades cleaver, and a NYKM knife, I'm just gonna stop...

I was never a Benchmade fanboy. But I respected their overall quality and craftsmanship. If you like your Delica, you ought to take a look at a Native 5 in S35VN and G10. It is so smooth.... I have an older Native, and the price of this one made me pause a bit. I'm glad that I took the plunge. The quality is quite apparent with even a little handling.

My one and only ZT is the 0770CF which I really like and it is my most expensive modern folder to date.

I really like the Delica and the ZT is about the same size, weight, and carries the same. Have a couple Enduras and I just didn't like the size and I knew when I got my first Delica that THIS was the size of knife I like to EDC.

Not a big fan of thumb studs either. Generally speaking, I am not into "fast opening" knives, but I can appreciate my ZT as well as some of the other assisted openers that I own. I just don't feel they're necessary for me.

You are someone in trouble. Spydercos are addicting. They do make occasional blunders, but not often. I really like Benchmade knives, but Spydercos are simply more satisfying on more levels.

I just got my first spyderco and I can't put it down. Its a tenacious, all black and all awesome

When I was looking around for my first Spyderco I thought I would start with the Delica and give it a try. I ended up getting the PM2 right from the start and love it. Strange though, I still want to buy the Delica.

I bought a Mini-grip to see what the fuss was about, wasn't really impressed, probably my least favorite Benchmade I own. I gave it to my GF to use she keeps it in her purse. I have the Manix and PM2 as well but still prefer my Benchmade Presidio which sees the most pocket time. The Axis lock IMO trumps all for speed of opening and closing. Faster even than my OTF Microtechs. I have a Kershaw Blur but in general Kershaw knives do nothing for me. ZT knives on the other hand are growing on me.

Me too. I've carried Spyderco for the last 15 years, but I found my favorite first. A lightweight goddard, I carried it for 13 years. I bought an Endura to replace it, and carried it for a year. In the last 3 months, Ive ordered a manix 2, a manix 2xl and 2 PM2's. The first PM2 arrives tomorrow.

So far I have a Manix 2, Endura4, Cat, and Tenacious. And I love the blade shapes, just excellent blades... but can't stand the handles. Too thin, too tall, too square-shouldered; for my hand, just not enough "meat" to the grips. Conversely, my 551 Griptilian, Leatherman K502 and ZT 0200 are perfect-- broad, rounded, meaty handles that let my fingers get a full grip. Anyone know of a Spyderco with a lower-profile, more rounded handle?

Welcome to the madness! Try to get your hands on a Paramilitary 2 or a Stretch:D

...or a Sage 2 (my personal favorite), Sage 3 in C.F., Caly 3 or 3.5 in ZDP or SuperBlue...the list goes on...
Yeah, I like those things...

My Stretch in Super Blue is probably the sharpest knife I own. It shaves the ridges off my thumb prints...

They make great fixed blades, too. Flat ground with S90V this one is all about the cut.
