Gang,

Thought it might be informative -- and fun -- to post a gallery of the various fakes, knock-offs, and rip-offs out there. If you could, please use the "IMG" tags around your links so the images show up in the thread.

I'll start with the Crawford/Kasper tactical folder ripoff I noticed at Bud K:

...and follow up with a shot (albeit poor) of several Spyderfauxs:

(If anyone finds a better picture of these, that would be great.)

Any and all other submissions welcome...

When you type in your post, paste in the hypertext link that is the location of a given image, then add the tags. (I have to muck with the spelling here so the software won't interpret it as a link, but it looks something like this) --

{IMG}http://anysite.com/picture.jpg{/IMG}

But substitute square brackets ( you know, "[" and "]" ) instead of the { brackets I just used.

Plus, if you're ever curious how someone codes a post, just click the "edit my post" icon over their post. You won't actually be able to edit it, since you're not them, but you'll be able to see all the UBB codes, and you can cut and paste them into your own post.

OOH, OOH, I have an idea!

Match the rip-off contest!

off the top of my head, I was looking at the "Master Knives" page, going "Hmmm, those look like SOCOMs, and these over here look familiar" ... (didn't pick up on the terzuola, I'll admit)

So match the rip-off ... fun for all ages ... (and a boon for all cheats!!)

Here are some Maxam and Fury Spyderfauxs, Blokers, and what I think is a "Catz" ...

...with some more Spyderfauxs and "Warm Steels," alongside what must be a "Hal Mar"...

...And here are some ripoffs of Hawg and Boker, as well as more of the usual suspects...

I noticed the black and silver Master Sharks
in the previous post (the ones with the crazy shark tooth serrated edge).

I didn't realize these were knockoffs, what is the original maker of these types of knives? I always thought they were wicked looking.....

They're Master's version of the "Hawg" knives. Joy cutlery makes a line of production Hawg folders (and interestingly, Joy owns Fury, I think), but the "real" Hawg knives are custom folders.

Just a note, mentioning "ripoff", "copy" etc, and using someones image _could_ result in lawyer type action. Probably not, but you never know.

Dave, I guess I just got carried away. I just call it as I see it, but I'll try to be more "PC" and not call them copies or ripoffs. How about: A Lesser Quality Likeness? Or maybe: an Inspired Variation of an Already Existing Design?
