I was surprised that a search of this forum did not return any SpyderSaw threads. Anyone played with one of these? Or do those of you who carry saws just use larger ones?

I carry a Vic. Outrider, which IIRC weighs 4 or 5 ounces, when I go hiking. I'm thinking I could get a lot more functionality for a little more weight by carrying lightweight versions of each of the Outrider tools that are important to me: knife, saw, scissors and awl. The can opener, cap lifter and screw-drivers are nice, too, when I'm carrying canned food, non-twist off bottles or something with screws (i.e. not often). Anyway, the SpyderSaw is bigger than the saw on the Outrider and weighs less than 3 oz.

I haven't tried the Spydersaw but I use a Gerber saw. Light weight, interchangeable blades, and really good when you need it. I have an old saw I've carried for years hunting, cut everything from bone to wood, wood handle and very light.
I've had the occasion to use both the Gerber and my SAK saw, the larger is worth it if you need it, and the SAK did the job. I carry the larger when I can.

My two cents, good luck.

Tom

Any updates now that some time has passed?

Particularly, has anyone compared the Spydersaw to the Greber/Fiskars "pull-out" saw?
