spydie hole wanna bees

The biggest difference I experience in deploying between the thumb hole of spyderco (delica4) and benchmade (mini griptilian) is that the edge of the spyderco's hole is bit rougher. It gives you a bit more grip although I personally prefer the smoother benchmade edges.

Spyderco seems to design their knives around the hole opening mechanism, while all other manufacturers seem to add the hole as an afterthought. That's at least been my experience. It took Benchmade a long time to get the hole correct (see the Bob Lum designed Onslaught). By correct I mean: non-chamfered and sharp enough to catch the pad of your thumb or, when flicking, your thumbnail.
