pics from Southnarc, they're at totalprotectioninteractive.com and Spyderco.com forum With and without wave.

Ugly is Spyderco's middle name :) If it's functional, I'm in. The early testers are saying that it's more reliable than a conventional wave, and if that's true, it's an absolutely killer solution IMO. I asked on TPI if the knife can be used in forward grip ... I'm wondering if I have the pickle on me, and need to break down some boxes (say), if I can pull it out and use it in a utility forward grip, or if the knife is completely specialized for a reverse-edge grip. I'm in either way, but would like it to be at least vaguely functional for occasional utility use.

I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be useable in any grip: It's got finger grooves on both sides and in forward grip it's a hawkbill/wharnie (wharnbill?) with a heck of a thumb ramp. With the steel liners, it's overbuilt for boxes.;)

man....that thing us FUGLY!! But... it looks absolutely tee totally brutally effective. Somehow more intimidating than even the Civilian. For the purpose that knife was made for, it looks like Sal was right on with this one.

I thought SN asked everyone not to distribute the pics over the net. Did he change his mind or was that too much to ask?

M Wadel,
since you apparently don't even know why it was designed that way, using the "jerk it"-smilie here is truly a class act.

i use all my knives for varios things even the "tactical" ones, i just think it looks strange

QS,
Is there a demo on how it's supposed to be opened into pakal? I thought that it would be obvious when I saw it, but not so much.

Those pics were given by SouthNarc as an exclusivity for TPI forums...
He asked specifically to not distribute the pics....

All I can say is that it sucks to see them here...:thumbdn:

sorry didnt mean to piss anybody off, the "jerk it" smilie means kinda like hmmmm to me, you know interesting (what does it mean really)

It carries tip-up with the blade forward (i.e., if it's in your right pocket, the clip setup is what you'd think of as "lefty"). Grab the knife with the pads of all 5 fingers, and withdraw -- you're now holding it by your fingertips, open in "reverse grip edge out" configuration. Now close your fist ... the knife rotates into pakal. Yeah, I know, text descriptions of this suck. There may be some pictures of this opening on TPI, and if not, I'm sure there will be soon.

Edit: Note the pic above (or at TPI if the pic disappears) ... that is set up for right-hand carry. Could help you visualize it a bit.

What Joe described is the other method, but I prefer the one on Don's site. It depends a bit on what kind of pants you are wearing IMO.
