There is a bit of momentum building on this over at the Spyderco Forum and I thought that my fellow Blade Forums members would like a chance to put in their two cents. The current ideas are either production version(s) of the current Shivworks lineup or maybe going the route of a new knife altogether.

What say you guys?

Sal and Southnarc have also invited us to participate in the discussion as to what we would like to see in a potential new design. Feel free to toss any thoughts into the hat. :)

How about a fixed version of the current Pikal - handle shape and included? Maybe with a slightly longer blade - 3.5"? I could live with G10 or FRN scales.

I have a Shivworks Disciple -- it's not a bad knife, but I think the p'kal from Spyderco is superior; the fact that it's a folder notwithstanding. I'd love to see Spyderco spruce up the ergonomics, and make production versions of the Shivworks lineup.

Also, just a note -- as these are dedicated, fixed-bladed, fighters -- I would not be adverse to seeing these knives in non-stainless steels. I don't envision peeling oranges, or going swimming with them.

I've got both the P'kal and the trainer as well as a small custom with the same blade shape. I've been hoping Spyderco would make a fixed blade of the P'kal. 3.5 inch blade please.

Seeing lots of fans of the P'kal across the various boards speaking up on the idea of a fixed blade version. I like the idea as well due to the 3" blade length being the "magic number" of many jurisdictions with knife restrictions.

Any thoughts on some potential ergo tweaks y'all might want to see if this comes to fruition?

"Shivworks"

Not exactly a name that sends the message that knives are respectable tools, is it? I'm hoping Sal steers clear of associating Spyderco with that kind of image. I've never even seen one of their knives, the name alone is enough to color my opinion.

I hope he doesn't do a collaboration with "Man Gutter" knives or "Prison Rape" sportswear either. What's in a name? A lot.

If you've seen the Spyderco P'kal, you basically have seen one of their knives. :-)

The shivworks logo is lazered on the Spyderco P'kal, so oopps, to late.. Oh well, I love them both.. I say lets do it..

Lil' loco spyderco
i like the name already.
thinkin' a single sided ground edge karambit lil' loco, with a folding indexfinger hole.
figure lotsa fancy holes to help in weight distribution, grip orientation and manipulation.
has to be made with xtremely thick blade stock to overcome stress and applied forces.
let's just drop any ideas with serrations.

I'd dig an affordable Clinch Pick (I have two and a trainer already, but it's a great knife) or something similar that's also somewhat utility-oriented... well, maybe not.

I dunno why people think the ergos on the P'kal are so great, they ARE... but it's still a folder, compromises were made. The Disciple is more comfortable and secure in hand IMO.

Oh yeah, a more affordable Clinch Pick would be awesome (then I'd actually get one!)

I agree that a production Clinch Pick would be a very attractive offering is Spyderco decided to do one. I'd probably snap one up.

Actually, this just about guarantees stainless only. When not training with it, the knife is going to be sitting in the sheath unused and mostly unattended. And when carried, it is probably going to be against the body and not highly visible with layers of clothing keeping it off the skin. H1 would be more likely than O1.

I just checked out the price on the current Clinch Picks and @ $250 or so I could easily see Spyderco doing one at half the price.

Admittedly it will be a small market but still good potential.
