BH said:Harry,
Why do you say that? I've owned several Emerson Ravens, and all have been very sharp.
Yester5 said:Believe me when I tell you that a properly done chisel edge will be the sharpest knife you will ever use. Everyone of my Emerson's have been extremely sharp out of the box- you will not be disappointed.
Yester5 said:I will give you that Spyderco's fit and finish are a little better, but Emerson's are a different type of knife- not fancy, but made for hard use. I have had two Endura's and a Delica actually break (blade snapped at the base of the lock notch) while not doing anything really too abusive. One Endura actually broke while cutting a plug out of a watermelon- the plug was cut and I was prying a little to pop out the plug. Spidies are made strictly for slicing IMHO. I'll give up a little on the fit and finish as long as I can count on my knife not to fail me.
I hear ya, brother- good points all aroundYester5 said:I think I know the limitations on each knife I own. That is probably why I own so many!!!
Yester5 said:3 Strider's
My Strider SnG is probably the closest I've come to the perfect all-around folder that is bomb proof. But I have a Cricket in my pocket everyday as well- great on blister packs!
The search for the perfect folder continues (it is a great hobby) and it has been great talking with you

It was my knife to give to friends when we went camping because i was not worried about it. The tip bent, it wasnt sharp, it just had the feel of over cooked spaghetti in my hands. Compared to an emerson, I jsut don't get the better "fit and finish" praise for the spyderco...oh well. It may jsut be personal opinion, but I had to say something.
