I was look to find some square metal tubing that a 1 1/2" bar would fit inside (like the KMG tooling arm) are there any sizes that would work? I want something pretty heavy tubing/pipeing
Thanks

2" square tubing with 3/16" wall thick should work out fine. The 3/16" wall thickness works. 1/4" wall thickness does not. I assume you want the 1.5" square stock to fit with needing to change the dimensions of the square tubing.

2"x2" 3/16 wall will give you an inside dimention big enoigh for the 1 1/2". The problem is there's a seam inside and the 1.5" might not slip in. You can cut a notch along the length of the 1.5" to clearance for the seam but the 2x2 won't be perfect inside. It can be made to work but it's easier to get four steel flats and either weld or screw them together. Using flats also gives you the option of 1/2" or thicker walls.

As Wil D suggested, the stronger solution is to weld up or bolt up the box. Look at a NWG or GIB photos and plans to see how this is done. A tooling arm box made from 1/4" bar stock and schedule/grade 8 bolts will be very heavy duty.

depending on the length needed.... you can go to a local trailor parts supplier and buy the receiver material for 1 and 1/2 inch reese components.... they run 6-12 dollars around here and the internal weld seam has been removed.... much better fit.
