Squaring up the spine....?

I have a few knives I'd like to use as strikers for my firesteels but the edge of the spine isn't squared up or sharp. How would you go about taking the round edge off the spine? Will it hold up well or would you have to constantly be regrinding the spine? Firesteels are soft enough that it won't hurt the metal, other than maybe blacken it, right?
