Very tasty and very good for you.Far better than anything your mega corps produce and poison you with.
You guys that like squirrel should raise some rabbits. I eat rabbit twice a week and squirrel maybe once a month or two.I usually have yuppy tourists dragging along when I go into the jungle so It's not too often I'm alone and able to pop something.

Take some mango,or peaches,chop them up with some onion and Jalapeno peppers.
Rub the squirrel with olive oil.Dust with a bit of cayenne, turmeric, and garlic powder.
Bake, covered with foil, according to size.
Serve with the chutney.
Sweet and sour squirrel.
Damn.I,m hungry now.
 
Looks like you had a fine day in the woods, I just recently picked up an older model H&r 410. Haven't had a chance to get out with it.
 
We had my kids favorite last night.... homemade squirrel potpie. 2 squirrels is about right for a full size pie w/ can of cream of chicken soup, potatoes and peas & carrots added. Its awesome with my wifes homemade pie crust.

You don't hunt squirrels by walking. You hunt them by sitting! :)

Walk 'till you find some oaks, then sit quiet and still nearby. After about five or ten minutes, the squirrels will resume activity. If you're as good a shot as RescueRiley, you'll be all set. ;)

That's one of the few things I envy you folks back east for. The squirrels out here are so puny you probably burn more calories cleaning them than you replace by eating them. Lots of other alternatives, though, so I can't complain too much.

+1.... we used to raise rabbits and baked rabbit is the bees knees... pretty easy to raise too. Feed and water them, let the male visit the females every once in a while and....bippity boppity....you got more rabbits than you can eat. Also, given the low price of the inputs and start up costs, rabbits are some of the cheapest protein you can grow. :thumbup:

You may ask yourselves, what will the kiddies think about killing the poor bunnies? Make the kiddies feed and water them. When they ask to hold the bunny, let them. A few well placed rabbit kicks and the pisser that is a chore will turn your little ones pretty cold blooded. ;):D
 
thats a tasty lookin! we like to get a good number of 'em for the family and make Squirrel Hot Wings. a little beer, its hard to beat

Hell. I was whacking "cute lil bunnies" in the head when I was 6 or seven.
Skinned them with an utterly useless cub scout knife.
Different world back then.
I refer to it as Pre-Idiocracy.:mad:

A bunch of the little tree rats stole the Black Walnuts I was soaking to make brown dye...:D...I turned them into meatballs for my tomato gravy:thumbup:

I know :D I use to hunt them by walking until I saw or heard one and then I would sit and wait for them to come back. I never heard or saw even one this time. I was hoping to go again this Saturday but it looks like its going to be a wash out here. :(

Plenty of hardwoods and acorns in the area I was in also. I just don't get it. :o

The last time I went hunting with Pops it was for squirrels. He got two I got none.
