Squirrel, it's what's for dinner.

yep indeed.

Strangly it seems that depicting human death and suffering is looked upon as normal while depicting a dead animal is frowned upon by some.
I don't understand why things that have been natural for millions of years suddenly turned into something unnatural while human suffering turns into entertainment.

Just be aware that these forums are also visited by those who will grab any opportunity to impose their moral values about hunting/gun control/weapons/knives and whatever they don't like and use it against us.

btw "tree rats" taste great.

And monkey does taste like human! Don't ask how I know

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::barf:

Did you live in Papua New Guinea (or something like that) for a while ?
The natives there would eat the remains of their dead relatives, and ended up with a Mad Cow type of disease ( called CJD).

Jeff, please elaborate on that statement, I cant help but to ask !!

With a bullet :D

I just let him soak in some steak marinade and tossed him on the grill. Good eatin!

That looks mighty taisty, wish I could try some. Enjoy!! Thanks for sharing the pictures, looks like a clean kill.

It's funny how commys like peta try to say they are out there to help save the aniamals and this beautifuly planet we call home. they tell us hunting is bad even if u eat what you kill. But yet we as hunters have donated more money and time to conservation in one year then they have in two. So with that being said peta can sit on a fat one.:grumpy:

Sorry for the little rant there and that is a nice pic you got there. Dose squirrel taste realy gamey?

Is using a RAT to skin a squirrel ethical? I mean, they're almost brothers. ;) :D

Nice work. I'll bet it was delicious.

Nice, I've always wondered what squirrel tasted like. I've hunted them for pest control on a couple of ranches. Never ate them though. The squirrels we have here (Spermophilus beecheyi) are known to carry a lot of diseases.

doesnt seem to me like a lot of people here in the RAT forum are members of peta :)

People who go around criticizing others for posting pictures of skinned animals for the purpose of eating need to find better things to do. Thanks for letting me vent.

No need to skin, just cut a hole in the skin on its back, put both your pointer fingers in the hole, then pull the hide off.

Oh, thats easy then. If I have to try it, it will be in a survival situation, cause hunting laws in Germany are pretty restrictive. (And I think the squirrel is not on the list of the animals one may hunt - at least in most places.)

what scope was on the rifle?

Its a $50 Bushnell 3-9x40. I just needed something that could hold up to the kick of a .22 for plinking and squirrels.

Pretty good scope for the money if you ask me. I got high $$$ glass on my hunting rifles but cant bring myself to put a costly scope on a rimfire.

i don't want to be a partypooper but be aware of what pictures you post online. i remember a thread a few years ago in the Busse forum where pictures of a bloody knife and what looked like dead vermint lead to a complaint about animal cruelty by an unknown forumite. Iirc Spark was court ordered to disclose the identity of the poster and from what i remember the O.P. got a lot of unwanted problem.
I don't have a problem with your pictures or with pestcontrol or hunting. Just be carefull you don't get into problems because not everyone on bladeforums has the same idea about the natural food chain.

While I understand what your saying, I don't think this is the same at all.

I killed a tree rat out in the country with a .22 and ate it. I figured of all places the RAT forum would be the place to post this....being that RAT is all about survival and hard use products.

Oddly enough in the pic with my .22 (where you can see the meat soaking in the corner) all the little chunks of metal sitting on the counter are expanded .22 bullets. Earlier in the day I was testing different brands of ammo to see what expanded better to make sure I would get quick kills.

BTW anyone who gets upset about a dead squirrel has never had them chew through wires in their attic or demolish the outside of their home. Squirrels are pests!

And just in case the PETA people are here......:D

Not bad for some Florida deer!

And monkey does taste like human! Don't ask how I know ;)

Its been a while now but I remember there were some guys that made "human meat" for people to eat. I cant recall what the company was or how much they sold it for but I always thought that was just weird.

Please don't tell me y'all eat the fat guy out of each group you take into the jungle!

While I understand what mongo-man is saying, those type of posts are more than welcome here.

As for PETA, this one will probably piss them off good, but it's what they do in the Amazon and it's how they live. So be it.

This is now the official Anti-PETA picture post thread! :D

I'd hate to have that guy or that big kitty pissed off at me. They both look like they can do some damage!

I always tell the doctors when I have any serious accident that if they have to remove part of me for any reason, I'd like them to seal it up in tupperware and give it back to me on my way out. Without fail, they always ask, "why?" and I tell them, "so I can take it home and eat it?" They ask, "why would you eat it? that's just crazy." I say, "because I've always wanted to try human, if for no other reason than just to say I did, and any other method of procuring the meat is illegal.":D
