Squirrels in the attic!

I might be the odd one here but I like squirrels. I don't think I would like them living in my house. The best way to get rid of squirrels is to burn the house down :mad:and relocate. The squirrels at our cabin have a great time throwing acorns at the dogs ( Great Danes.) the little buggers have very good aim nailing the dogs on the nose or forehead repeatedly. The squirrels seem to have an alliance with the magpies to steal the dogs food. The dogs can almost climb the trees, but they are a few experiments away from flying.

We had a mouse problem two years ago. We have cats, but I think the animal world has become much more accepting of cultural differences between species. It took a few months but the cats violated the peace treaties eventually. I got very good at checking my shoes in the morning.

Mark, I think it would be almost impossible for that last species to bark up the wrong tree. You could write commercials for the super bowl. Squirrels and 22-250s go together well and you don't need a skillet. Jess

Stan, that was funny. I actually thought the same thing first time I wrote the title. Great minds like they say. ;)
I don't think I am up to cooking the critters but now you have me hungry for biscuits and white gravy made the only way it should be made, with bacon drippings.

Mike, I actually have never seen or heard squirrels. The pushed in soffit can only be caused by them though. But it is a good idea to set a trap just to make sure be sure, thanks. As far as plugging the hole, I can't do that because of the nature of the soffit, just straighten it back down. I'll just have to monitor it I guess. I hope you get your problem sorted out too.

That's funny Mark. :D

As far as coons, I think we would hear something that big. And yes, I hate them as much as the squirrels.

Lets face it... most of us love animals of all sorts, as long as they know (and stay in) their place. I love my dog to death, but if I ever find him in the kitchen he's in a world of trouble. Squirrels can be cute to watch, but if they decide to become rent free tenants, they will discover (too late) that the cost of the unpaid rent is very dear indeed. I think bears are wonderful creatures that have a very special place in the world ... and that place is at least a mile from my house.

I don't advocate killing animals wantonly or without cause. I simply don't feel that I owe any animal a courtesy once it decides to set up residence in my home, and commences destroying the home at the same time. And no, I wouldn't care two shakes of a spotted owl's tail feathers whether the creature was on an endangered list either. If it is in my home, it is fair game. And should I destroy something that was endangered I would fear no reprisals, because nobody (save my wife) would even know, and she would certainly applaud me for keeping the home free of pests.

Good luck keeping da buggas out!

Just don't let them find your light sabres.

Tossing them into the forge doesn't work either.
