SR101 Corrosion resistance

Demadel,

Looks nice so far. It appears you may have done some metal polishing before.

About the finish under the Rats.... some are good. ....... the Desert Jack, it was rather smooth.

I stripped my Desert Jack as well. I have always been curious why it doesn't have the wavy marks.

My Desert Jack had a rather cool looking light dimpling.

I like the dimples and just lightly buffed them.

You can see the temper line though

I use Ren-Wax. It is talked about a lot at the Swamp Forum if you do a search over there. It is very good stuff. A wax like this will help when you take the knife to the woods as well as it will help keep moisture off of the blade for an initial period of time.

Do you use your knives that you cover with Ren-Wax on food?

I have some Flitz too, but use it only for stainless blades which needs to be shiny.

It cleans a lot. Even a steel silver blade will get brighter with it.

But, carbon builds up a patina, that protects too and costs nothing. I have cut a lot fruits with mine and never had any problems with ´em.

Most important is, never leave them wet at the dishes, like some of our wives do.

In other words: My wife managed it to let our carbon blades rust. Me never.
