SRK in CPM 3V?

How good is cold steels heat treat for 3V? I have been seeing reports of their 3V knives chipping so not entirely convinced.

Just found it on Massdrop today, how's the heat treat on this production knife when compared to brk, and other well tested 3v blades? 126 is decent but that 1-2 months wait tho.

I got in on that. Price was too low to say no.

I've seen a pic of a broken 3v master hunter. One pic out of however any 3v blades cold steel sells (which is likely considerable amount of knives). To say "I have been seeing reports of their 3v knives chipping" isn't going to cut it for me. Cite your source or I say you're just repeating someone else's bull.

I think ill just avoid this brand. 60-80 more i can just get something way better. Thanks everyone for the advice.

Yes that was one of the threads I was refering to. then there's this one:

Wow, the OP sounds like he's trolling hard core and guys don't even get it.

He states: "hard to word this as I dont know the lingo"

Before stating he doesn't know the lingo: "I did not WSK&T convex it yet."

After saying he doesn't know the lingo: "Also Have Bradford Guardian 3 ( M390) and Guardian 5 3V. Also White River K&T Backpacker S30v. MY current EDC. Love this knife.
Neither has any damage from 100x more use. Bradford stuff is amazing BTW. Double HT and cryo must help a bunch."

Good deal. Would love to here what you get that's "way better". I have $500 blades that I wouldn't consider better.

All 3 of those are great choices. I've had the swamprat ratmandu, very well thought out and useful knife. I haven't had a bradford or one of Nathans knives but I have not heard anything but praise for them either. Any of the 3 would serve you well. Price and wait times may be quite a bit more. If you don't mind the wait though I'd take any of those three with micarta or G10 over the Kraton SRK and its a great knife. They are just better. Of course your pretty much into custom price range and time frame for all 3.

While I understand what you saying, I somewhat disagree with you. Although G10 and Micarta are without a doubt more long term durable and attractive, krayton has its place to me. I was once field dressing a deer with a friend who was using a beautiful Bark River hunting knife. It's was around 5 degrees outside and he was having trouble in the cold with the beautiful but slick G10 handle and the fact that his hands were getting really cold with the exposed metal tang. We switched to my Master Hunter to finish the deer up without any problems with the cold or slickness. While he still has the beautiful Bark River knife, he always asks me to bring my Master Hunter when we hit the woods. ;)

Those are some solid choices.

The Bradford might be good with the new filled out handles
The SwampRat will be good after its reprofiled, if you have smallish hands and you buy a sheath
The Carothers is supposed to be one of the best ever. I've been trying to get one for months

All of those probably cost more than twice the srk in 3V.

Get them all!!

Even in the brand, you can get the Warcraft Tanto, or AK47 Field Knife, if you want full tang, sandwiched between G10 scales.

With that being said, I think that the Nightfall Master Tanto is arguably the best soldier's knife on the market $4$ in 3V
