SRK vs Becker 5" / 7" utility knife?

I think you won't go wrong with both knives, whether you choose the SRK
or the BK knife. They are of similar quality, just choose the one you like more.
It's you who have to carry and use it :)

I have both knives and use both knives, I prefer the C/U-7for most things ,but for smaller, closer type work, I like the SRK

I have both.

The BK7 is a superior cutting tool (by far), even though I reprofiled the edge on my SRK as thin as I could get it.

If I asbolutely knew I was going to be prying HARD with a knife, I'd go with the SRK. If it's intended to be a cutting, slicing, and chopping tool, I'd go with the BK7 without hesitation.

I'd also get the micarta replacement stocks for the BK7. The original grip is both too big and too slippery (the latter can be fixed with some sandpaper).

Both knives use exactly the same steel, cold steel just calls it carbon v and both knives are made by camillus. The Becker is better for combat use since it has a more durable handle and a hammer extention of the tang to break glass or skulls or to just hammer a stake! The becker also cost less. I love cold steel and becker knives but would choose the bk7 for what you are wanting it for.

I own three SRKs and two BK9s (with another BK9 on the way).

The wide Becker blade makes for great slicing and the 9" blade is good for chopping. Micarta slabs are 5/16" in thickness and cost $20 US. I only have one pair but going to try to use them as a pattern for hardwood slabs on my other Beckers.

SRK is handy for up close work and prying.

Just my reasoning behind having both. Not a fan of the wide Becker blade in smaller lengths.
