SRKW CR and ATC VTAC. SxS Pics

The VTAC is the best tactical hawk on the market IMO. I just havent seen another that hangs with that model.

I would like to pitch a variety of tactical tomahawks in a range of tests to determine their relative superiority. Anyone with any ideas for typical tests? Smashing doors? Throwing accuracy and 'stickyness'? Maybe killing stuff???

I personally lean away from 'the best' statements since as someone said in someother forums "there ain't a best of the best just the best at what it does". Don't get me wrong I love the VTAC and I side by it in many threads but it has its drawbacks. Also a best for another person is a ventilated (spike inna head) crainal cavity for others.

Well said.

Back from bigbear now... (was up Wed)...

threw them both, just one time each... nothing stuck but that is my throw as i did not dial in the distance/throw...

We did do some stupid stuff though... my buddies yard is full of holes, (snake? gopher? grey squirl? who knows)... but i decided the spike would be a good ground pounder to help collapse the holes. A few whacks and and just seconds into it, the VTAC lost its point (hitting rocks buried in the dirt). It would still take a person, but the sharp of the point was gone... The CR with the same effort did not loose anything (swinging with same pressure, they both threw off sparks, but the CR (crash rat/crash axe) did not loose anything.... but its worth noting that it did not have much sharp to begin with on the spike...

Also, whacking wood, the sweet spot of the VTAC was actually the hand side of the axe blade, almost on the inner corner... this was the best place to land for best sink... the CR does have a much larger sweet spot and is more forgiving if you miss the sweet spot... but you would expect that with a thinner, sharper, longer blade with more weight behind it...

on to favorites... depends on the task. I do think i will reduce the length of the VTAC spike, so I feel a bit more confident handling it in high stress situ's I do not feel the need to do this with the CR... Go figure...
