I have been looking for the above. One dealer told me they were discontinued and one dealer told me they weren't made yet.
Can someone help me?

RGRAY - The SS Native is currently in limited production. Blade steel is AUS-10, but at this time, it is available only in a combination plain/serrated edge. The piece is very nice with good quality materials, fit & finish. Reversible left / right tip up clip.

We are currently working on ways of increasing production on this model. If we can, we will add a plain edge version.

I'd like to ditto what Sal said.
It is a very nice knife.
Very flat, very good lockup, very sharp, and I have to say that the Native's profile made the transition from Zytel to SS really well. It retains all of the positive attributes of the original model in a flatter, stronger package.
A plain edge version would be exceptionally nice, too.

Gotta LOVE that Native!

The Native is one of the best shapes to do in stainless, because it locks into your hand so that the lack of traction in the material doesn't do any harm. My variation for SKU hell would be to make it in plain edge, flat ground all the way to the spine, with little or no swedge. That would be one truly elegant knife, calculated not to rattle the nerves of US domestic airline security. (I know - we have the stainless plain edge Calypso for that!)

I agree with what James Mattis said. Flat ground would be great.

Them:"What's that clipped to your pocket, a beeper?"
Me:"Uuh....yeah, something like that."

I agree, the Native translates very well into steel. It is thinner than the zytel model and feels alot better to me than the zytel ones. AUS-10 is also a great steel. The stainless Native is a must have for Spydie fans.

It looks like a nice knife. My baker sister likes Spydies and told me she wanted a stainless one. I was all ready to buy her a Native II until I discovered they were only available with the combo edge. She's going to get a Calypso Jr Lightweight now so Spyderco didn't lose the sale completely but they did fail to sell a particular knife by not having it available in plain edge.

Are there plans to produce the large native that I saw at the Atlanta Show ? That was the best new pocket knife I saw, what a great blade.

wll

Wll - No plans at this time. We'll show it at SHOT for reaction.

RGray - We don't sell at SHOT, it is prohibited by SHOT Show management.

If you're talking about the large Native "Pride". At this time, there is only one prototype and we'll need for Shows to test reaction. sorry.

Hmmm...
Wish I could make it to that SHOT Show!
Would me jumping up and dancing on the Spyderco display table be a favorable enough reaction to begin production of the Big Native?
