SS threshold usable metal?

Alright, don't laugh at this question, but is a stainless steel threshold usable for a knife? I know there are all kinds of SS and I have no idea of identifying this one. But before I threw it out I thought I would ask. It's thin enough that I wouldnt mind attempting a fillet-like style knife. then again, it may be too hard to begin with....

First off, most of that threashold stuff is aluminum . No it isn't made special enough. Frank

I think not hard enough is the issue you'd run into, not too hard.

If it is not aluminum it is likely a low grade stainless. If it is a quality (industrial) threshold the stainless is probably a 300 series. Not any good for blades, but could be used for bolsters, liners depending on the thickness. Lean it in the corner of your shop someday you will find a use for it.
