I'll be visiting my daughter in St. Louis soon. Are there any good knife shops where I can see and handle some good knives? I'm particularly interested in seeing Spydercos. Here in Memphis I can't find anything.

Hi, I lived in the area for awhile. I'm not aware of any in St. Louis (although there could be some) but there is an EXCELLENT knife shop not too far away in Troy, Illinois. I would guess 45 minutes from St. Louis. It is called Grand Praire Knives. It can be a bit difficult to find with all the road construction, but it is by far the best knife shop I've been to. Tons of high end knives, tons of Spydercos, tons of everything really. The staff is very friendly and glad to let you handle the knives. Hope you get to check it out, it is worth it IMO.

Actually GPK is only 15-20 minutes from downtown when the traffic is clear. Now that GPK is a corporation, I should buy stock to make back a little of the money I have spent there since 1997.:)

Thanks for the correction Anthony, I can be terrible with directions. Mr1911, GPK is Grand Praire Knives. They have a website too so if you want to check out the selection beforehand you can look for any particualr models you are interested in.

GPK is in Troy, Illinois. They are closed on Sunday and Mondays. Huge selection of production and customs. You will love them.

Grand Prairie is about it for STL. A few Spyderco, Benchmade etc. dealers but all small displays in other types of business. I recommend a trip to GPK highly if you have the time. Wide range of production and an increasing line of custom. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks. I'll definitely try to get there.
