St. Patric's Day Preempt

Dennis,

Thank you for another great show. Love the green.

In Daley Land (Chicago) they will turn the River Green, and we will remember old friends and good times. This week has historically been a very good time for friends in Chicago. Even us Poles wear green.

This year, I was going to give some of my Irish friends Shamrock knives, but the legal blade length limit is now two inches inside Chicago City Limits.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a green 2" bladed knife? I think Dennis's smallest Green GEC would be too big.

Two come to mind. The cutting edge of a Case swayback gent is exactly 2". They're currently available in emerald green bone.

Another is the GEC made Bulldog smooth green bone easy open barlow with a 2" spear blade. I've got one of these and it's probably my most favorite GEC.

If its a law issue then I think both of those go just over 2". The only one I can think of under 2" would be a green Vic Classic. You could also get a Case Peanut in Bermuda Green but again, I think the blade is just over 2".

biglmbass and 2Dead,

Thank you for your serious and thoughtful answers.

It definitely was a Law issue. I had thought of giving some Shamrock knives to some serious Chicago Irish.

Then I looked up the Law.

I was stunned to find that the new Maximum blade is 2".

I will skip St Pat's in Chicago this year.

Well, I think Dennis has me beat on GEC greens, so I'll have to cheat a bit...

(This is not a competition...)

Now that I think about it, I don't believe I have any knives with green handles to carry on St Patricks Day......I'll have to track one down for next year! Wait, I've got a Case Canoe in burnt lizzard...bright green counts.

Wow! These are brilliant greens!
I had almost forgotten that a couple greens were in my small collection.
My daughter snapped a shot on her phone for this view.
The antique pen here snapped shut and cleanly razored a 1/4" x 1/8" wedge off my thumb when the small blade closed! No bleeding, just through the callus and outer skin. The little Case 6308 whittler is almost as small as a peanut- think I'll start it into my rotation.
Happy St. Patrick's day gang :D

Beautiful set, Dennis. I would be happy to carry any one of those today.

Happy St. Patricks Day!
