Stabilization knowledge base

Good evening everyone. Except for the online ordering module, the Ultraseal website is off and running. Thanks to everybody for your patience. The website includes a forum with a polling feature that allows an individual to rate his/her stabilizing experience with a particular wood species on a 1-5 scale with the ability to include relevant comments and photos if desired.

The site is:

For those of you who have stabilized wood using Ultraseal as either testers or buyers, could you please go in and provide updates as appropriate for the different wood species? The objective is to build up a single knowledge base for ALL woodworkers (not just knife makers) who are stabilizing with Ultraseal. The rating system will help guide users in identifying which woods seem to stabilize best, along with providing a single point source of useful information for specific species of wood in order to avoid pitfalls and build on previous experiences. It will help Ultraseal by highlighting areas where we can make improvements to Ultraseal Wood Stabiliser, something that is extremely difficult to do trolling a dozen or so forums.

Thanks in advance,

Bob

Bob, I got the quart in yesterday and I am doing a test on a block of oak. I will post my findings.:D

Due to popular demand, Ultraseal Wood Stabiliser now includes a UV stabilizer to improve colorfastness of stabilized wood.

IG, have you had a chance to try yours out yet?

I still have it under vacuum. It is still floating. I'll pull it out and bake it this weekend.I just got in Tap Pigments it is used with polyester resin, epoxy and gel coats. Do you know if this compatible????
