This wood probably can't be correctly called bog oak since it came from a gravel pit instead of a peat bog but looks very similar, it was clearly exposed to acidic conditions. Can't say if it is 200 or 5000 years old. It was recovered in the late 1970's from a pit along the Tombigbee River in northeast Mississippi and was sawn by my dad and me at that time. Flatsawn, the blocks show typical white oak medullary rays on the edges but I've been unable to get them to show up in photos.
Sanded to 220 grit, I made no attempt to fill the grain. Stabilized by K&G.
8 blocks 5 5/8" x 1 7/8" x 1 1/8" $30 each
