This is more of the redwood I got at the coast last weekend. The figure is much more 3 dimensional than you normally get with curly redwood.
I stabilized these with Resinol 90C in a dry vacuum pressure injection system. The resinol is heat cured. This makes the redwood about 3 times harder than normal. The weight of the blocks is not as heavy as with stabilized spalted wood but still about 50% heavier than normal Redwood.
The 4 blocks to the right are flat sawn and cut just below the outer surface of the tree. This way you get some weird grain and quilted figure. The wood has been misted with water so you can get a better idea how these pieces will look when finished.
