Some of you might remember me from a few years back — I’m Mark Farley, known here as Burl Source. I used to supply stabilized burl and figured wood to knife makers and collectors.
Now that I’m retired, I’ve started selling a bit of stabilized wood again to help supplement my retirement (and because I missed working with beautiful wood). Everything is professionally stabilized by K&G, who in my opinion are the best in the business.
I recently sent in a batch of wood for stabilizing and built a website where it can be purchased. I’ll post some photos soon showing what’s available, and I’ll keep adding new pieces as more woods come back from K&G.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message — I’ll reply as soon as I can.

This first batch is some really nice old growth redwood lace burl. The ones currently on the website are priced from $35 to $65 each with free shipping in the US. The website is at burl-source.com . This link will take you to the redwood.

I'm glad Mark is back and doing well. Had a nice chat with him.
His redwood burl blocks are amazing. I bought a lot of stabilized redwood blocks as well as large unstabilized pieces of this redwood from him many years ago. I still have a few blocks that are so good I haven't made a blade that I felt was worth the wood yet.

You won't be disappointed in the quality. The best thing about it is that unlike everything else today, Mark's prices are now considerably lower than they were 15 years ago when he needed to made a bigger profit for a full time business. I paid $75 to $85 to him for some of that old growth redwood and considered it a bargain back then.

Thank You for the kind words Stacy.

I don't blame you. These old bones don't like the cold anymore. Being in Mississippi I can grow my vegetable garden year round as well. Life is better when you can stay warm.

Would you consider shipping to outside the us?
Stunning looking blocks
Yes but it is expensive. I sent 2 blocks to the netherlands and it cost $45 and then customs will be charging an extra $39

These are the last redwood blocks in the store. More are coming sometime in January. They are priced at $65 each with free US shipping.
