Stabilized wood, how can you tell

I might pull up my latest version of my wood identification and information page along with the articles on stabilizing

The reason I wanted this Myrtle stabilized was for dimensional stability. Anyhoo, I sanded to 2k and then polished with a sunshine cloth. Very nice. so apparently it is stabilized, it is...just the way Myrtle is. I am going to go ahead and try it out on a handle, it is some really nice curly wood. Probably should have been called tiger Myrtle. BTW, K&G is the guy, both he and his wife are nice folks, I am satisfied with their service and would definitely use them again if/when the need arises. I withheld the name until now because I didn't want to appear to be ripping on them, but initially, I really thought that a mistake had been made. Thanks to all who replied.

Thanks for the update on how the wood finished. As someone with a half dozen or so blocks of myrtle burl out for stabilizing, I'm curious as to how well it'll take the resin.
