Hi I have just got a block of some nice spalted silver maple back that I sent off to be stabilized and I would like to send some of it to a bladesmith for a knife so I was wondering whats the best way to cutt this stuff and with what type of blade thanks guys.

It would help if we knew more. Please help us by filling out your profile. Also, what size is the wood? What kind of knife are you interested in? You could make just about any kind of knife handle with it, if the wood is of sufficient size. Also, where are you located.

the wood is 1 inch thick and 2 inches wide im going to have a small fixed blade made with a 3 3/4 inch blade with 1/8 thick scales and im located in nokesville va also this will be a full tang knife i do not want to use all of the wood on this one knife so i was thinking i could cutt a couple of slabs off about an half inch thick thanks for the help.

If I'm getting you right, you want a maker to make you a knife with your handle material?
I'm in Norfolk, shoot me an email and we can get details.
