I have been working with a rep from Loctite. I think we have found a resin that will hopefully equal the quality of profesionally stabilized wood. It is heat activated, so you can take as long as you want then when your ready just pop at it in the oven for a couple of hours at 150deg.F and its cured. The only draw back so far is that it costs about $100 per gallon and the smallest quantity is 4 gallons. My question is for those of you who have done alot of stabilizing. How many sets of "standard size" scales can you do with a gallon of what you are using now? I'm trying to get a hold of a small quantity to do tests. If anyone is interested E-mail me at sattley@hotmail.com and I'll update you as things progress.
