Stacked Leather Bowie

Looks amazing! Some makers are starting to stabilize leather. Anyone heard of this?

In the same way wood is stabilized? No, I hadn't heard of that.

On the stacked leather ferro rods I make I use CA to stabilize. Having drilled a hole for the rod and another for the lanyard tube there isn't a lot of surface area to glue each piece to. Without end like a bolster and pommel the handle can be pretty iffy. CA takes care of that very nicely and can be buffed to a high shine.
